I grew up in the boonies, and a good coonhound was a sign of a "wealthy" man. And they ARE pricey. And were often treated better than many neighbors' wife and/or kids.
And used for...raccoon hunting. So I don't even hear the racial slur in there; I grew up on coon chili. Again, made from raccoon.

Well shit. My mom was trying to call me tonight so my sisters had to tell her I was in Ireland. Now she wants to call me...but my phone isn't working and it's after 11 here, so I can't really have her call the B&B.
I pobably shoudl have told her before I left, but I was hoping to save her the worry. I was about to send her an email saying I was gone for a long weekend. I just hope getting home isn't the hassle that getting her was or she will lose it.

Both parts! I can totally imagine myself saying, "He's a....racoon hunting breed." because I'm like that sometimes.
I am sorry, Sue. I mean, delighted that you finally got to Ireland after all the flight issues, but sorry that your fears about your mother calling are realized. I hope your sisters are able to assure her of your safe travels.
