Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Consuela, how do you like the clipless pedals? I am intrigued by them, but also scared.

Not Consuela, but I love them! It took me a couple of years of riding before I got over being too scared to try them but now I'll never go back. I did fall over the very first time I took the bike out with them but that was more funny than owie. And I fell over one other time while standing completely still (with one foot clipped in). Also mostly a funny fall. Anyway, they are so much more efficient the funny falls are worth it.

That's good to hear. It's falling I am afraid of, I guess, though it's not like I am catching myself with my feet frequently, anyway.

I need to get my bike cleaned up after a couple-three years of it sitting in the shed neglected and get riding again, I miss it. I have shoes that clipless-ready for when I decide to switch over.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Is anyone still watching Nashville?

I watched the last two eps yesterday, and...I still like it, but obviously not enough to prioritize it.

lisa, K and I are channelling you and signed up for Little Red Riding Hood. I love that you can opt to ride as much as 100 miles or as little as 18.

Granted we are driving 32 hours round trip to ride. But I'm pretty excited! Plus the jerseys and shirts are adorable.

You know, they're not so bad. I loosened up the tension so it wasn't too hard to clip into them, and my brother had recommended just clipping in & out of them a couple dozen times to get the hang of it, which wasn't too bad.

Clipping out isn't the problem, really--or no more difficult than pulling your feet out of the cage things. It's clipping back in when the light has gone green and you're halfway across the intersection, because the pedal's upside down and you're pedaling with one foot and using the other toe to flip the pedal over. But you know, you deal with that with the other kind of pedals, too.

My big problem was the fancy-shmancy gear shifters, which are all on the brake levers now. Useful because you don't have to take your hands off the handlebars to shift. But takes a while to adjust to.

Yeah, I am familiar with the upside-down-pedal problem from my current set up (I lost my clips at some point and now I have straps that are okay). And I can practice with the bike set up in the training, uh, thing so it doesn't fall over. Hm.

Now I want to go look at my gear shifters, I don't remember where they are.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Shouldn't that pedal problem be one we should be able to solve by gyroscopes or magnets or something by now? We're living in the future, people, let's get on that! Of course, I don't really know how to ride a bike, so possibly you should consult someone else on this project.

I'm not sure when I caught Liese cooties...

Ha! ALL SHALL LOVE ME AND CLEAR COOKIES!

This is how sad my life is... I read Liese's post above out of context and I was like, "Is this related to girl scout cookies?"
