Stephanie, yes. He has three daughters, but no sons. The heir had been his first cousin, who had a son who was planning to marry his oldest daughter. But the first cousin and his son died, and now they've determined that the next heir, according to the rules, is a third cousin once removed who none of them have ever met.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Lord Grantham is pretty old-school and hidebound, so I can see him feeling like it would destroy everything if the named head guy wasn't actually in charge.
Cool- I should start watching the show. Everyone loves it. But I'm already so far behind on the shows I do watch.
Speaking of lather--I managed to make it to 44 before buying Bronner's--does it normally lather weakly? I tried two small bottles to test scents, but I'm surprised that such a renowned soap seems to be performing...differently.
ita, yes. Bronner is not a big lathering soap.
Over 300 posts I catch up on, and I comment on soap. Go fig.
IME Dr. Bronner's is not big on suds. ISTR that may have been mentioned in the myriad of bizarre writings that covered the bottle, that there wouldn't be a lot of lather but the clean would still happen.

The good news is, it's not a lot of episodes?
OH! Oh! I know this. The entail means that Lord Grantham doesn't have the right to break the estate up (or leave to his daughters). Whatever way the inheritance is written, the current is really kind of holding the estate in trust for the next in line. Somehow Grantham's father must have had Cora transfer her money to the estate, so now that is part of the Estate, meant to be inherited by the next male heir.
Also, I'm pretty sure Downton has aired everywhere in the world now. Do we need to still white font for season 1?
Not important enough to say twice.
