But seriously, Rio isn't married to Bob Saget, either.

My whole worldview is shattered!!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

She'd have periodic updates on how the burro was getting to where she lived, and how the burro was growing, and all sorts of stuff like that. Turned out she'd actually just put the money in a savings account for grad school, and wanted to see how long she could keep people believing the burro story.

That seems harmless enough. I'm assuming she didn't get distraught about mysterious burro ailments and hit people up for drinks and/or chocolate on the strength of it.

I didn't interact much with were-monkey dude as I think he was around mostly during a gray period for me. It does feel like betrayal in a close-knit Internet community to have someone misrepresenting himself to that degree.

I'm starting to suspect that Rio is lying about not being married to Bob Saget. Do we really have any evidence that she isn't? It just seems really unlikely. Not as unlikely as Jesse not being a cowgirl, but still pretty damn hard to believe.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

No. It was weird, but harmless, and a bit entertaining -- you could always get a good story if you asked her how the burro was doing.

Because books.

Yeah, the burro story seems harmless enough, if a little wicked. It's when people start getting emotionally involved that it's ugly.

This whole situation with the job dragging out forever has just ground me down

I can imagine. I wish something would change for you.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

And we certainly do have some unusual stories among ourselves here.

Heh. I just have to assume that some people really DO think my life is a work of fiction. It's not, but I know that it seems like it.

My whole worldview is shattered!!

THIS. Next you'll tell me that ita ! isn't Batman.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The stories like Consuela's are the ones I wish were not true.

This sort of thing makes me want to post my lab results, but they could be anybody's, right? I think I'd be afraid too afraid of karma to pretend to have cancer. With my luck, the pretense would become real.

I am actually a straight man who lives in my parents' basement in the Midwest.

That whole swinging coastal lesbian thing was a LIE. A LIE.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, for goodness' sake, Jill, hush!

By the nth excuse Gus came up with for not meeting anyone F2F (especially you, tommy), I decided that something significant about his story was off--something he couldn't fake in person.

In high school a friend and I had this extended oral story going on about how we knew Michael Praed, but she started getting so into it, and telling the stories to other people, that I freaked out and stopped. I might even have stopped talking to her a little. It was just weird.

Most of the people in my family who lie are lying in order to make themselves more boring, not more exciting. Or are lying to themselves as much as anyone else.

Someone (or ones) told lies about me at the krav centre, and I never found out who. But people would insist I'd said or done things that I didn't know or wouldn't say, and one of the reasons I cut ties so cleanly was because *I* was being treated like a liar, and they were some weird assed accusations, ranging from harmless to really fucking hurtful. It was just off..
