Had yummy Thai crispy duck tonight, and the waitress told me I was in good shape when I explained that I was on a diet and couldn't eat rice. Nice to hear, but if only that were true...

Kat, that is nuts. People scare me sometimes.

Tonight we went to a pizza pub and ended up next to a table full of kids, 10-ish year old boys that seemed to be on a team together. And the little brother of one of the boys. No parents in sight. It was ok at first, so we ordered our food. Then the kids started picking on the little brother. And ordering the wait staff around...real condescending. After their pizza showed up, a parent appeared from another table. Nothing was said to them about moderating their noise level or being nice to the little brother, or even being polite to the wait staff. When they were done eating, they started blowing over their bottles of root beer to make them whistle. I snapped. As nicely as I could (which is debatable), I asked them to please stop. They then decided to climb over the patio wall (why use a door) and go run amok while their parents finished. K-Bug said we were getting death glares from one of the parents. I don't care. I've been a team mom for too many teams. All the wait staff was SO relieved when the kids left. I hope (but doubt) that the parents leave a good tip.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I think I'm going to see if anyone I know has clippers with a long guard.

We do (I think- it has adjustable guard, like 7 or 9 different settings.) Tom got it because he was sick of barbers not cutting his hair short enough.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Bangs are another thing I think I want until I have.

Okay, so if I just basically trim it, I think I could use this as a reference pic. It's coming from this, just, you know, three months longer. Which in my case is quite a lot of hair.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oo, Liese, I like that cut a LOT.

WRT my hair woes, I think I need to try out either a set of hot rollers or a new, actually effective, blow dryer. In theory my cut is fine, my hair just needs a bit of taming is all.

WRT the folks in Kat's potential new neighborhood and their lesbian-fearing ways, fuck them!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Um. I think I found my father: [link]

At least he wasn't married when I was born?

He has the name my mother told me, and he was the executive vice president of a company she worked for, so it seems likely.

I couldn't find hi before because I was searching the death index for the year I was born- which is when my mother told me he died. Although I thought she might be lying, I couldn't narrow it down between three likely Joseph Rapones. Ancestry.com just added links to city directories, and I found one who worked for a news company like she did, and then I googled.

I also just realized that the time she offered to tell me all about him, and I refused, was probably when he died.

Wow, Sophia. How is this knowledge sitting with you? Are you okay?

I am OK, I think. A little weirdly teary, which is unexpected. If this is the man, which seems likely unless my mother used his name just to give me a name, I am pretty amused that he was so athletic that it was on his tombstone. Also, I think I found a son of his (per his obit, he raised 5 children as a widower) is an athletic director at a semi-local school. Nurture versus nature, I guess, as my mother an I are so unathletic as to be ridiculous.

I would love to see a picture of them to see if there is any resemblance, although I take after my mother very strongly, so I doubt it.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh, what am I thinking, I'll never put in that amount of effort. I need to stop complaining about how I don't look all put together when I will never ever be willing to put in the time to do it.

Yeah, this is me. *sigh* I *want* to be all elegant and polished, but I'd rather sleep in than spend an hour in the morning fixing my hair.

I wet my hands and run them through my hair to get rid of bedhead.

I've started doing this too. Finger-comb with wet hands, and then spritz with some spray-on leave-in product because of the humidity. My hair looks better the less I fuss with it, and brushing it is right out. It doesn't look *perfect* but it's got that tossed-about look. At least I tell myself that.

"two moms would freak them out." um. okay?

How fucking sad for them.

Um. I think I found my father

Wow, Sophia. I was going to ask if you're ok, but you already answered that. It's kind of a gut punch, isn't it, to know for sure, even though you already knew.
