Zoe: Planet's coming up a mite fast. Wash: That's just cause, I'm going down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all. Mal: Well, that happens, let me know.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Replace your helmet, please.

Cosigned.

I think phone cases are like that and I pushed mine too far and now have a crack on my screen. I knew I'd basically dropped it and taken all of the life that the case had but I put it off. Don't do that with things that hold your BRAIN.

And I am glad you are okay. Bike wrecks can be very scary. Advil and hot water are probably your bestest friends. I don't recall if you have a bathtub but showers will do.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm glad you were wearing your helmet, too, Jessica, and weren't hurt worse.

No. I do not want flannel shirts and ripped denim shorts with my silver ankhs and black lace, thanks

I'd wear that (possibly unfortunately--the heart wants what it wants). But I wouldn't call it Goth when I did.

I still have the scars on my knees from doing a header over the handlebars 26 years ago (funny, I don't remember what caused the accident!) I was extruding gravel months later.

Because books.

Yikes, Jess. I'm glad you're okay.

Hot popcorn:

War Games is, coincidentally, on AMC tonight at 10:30 EST.

I have scars on top of scars. And given I grew up before we knew, oh, you should protect brains, I am damn lucky. My knees are both really trashed though and both elbows. I had three bad wrecks growing up. I forget that it is even possible for people to have unscarred knees.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh! One of my favourite artists as a kid, Leo Dillon, has died. IO9 has an article with all his sff covers, but I knew him from kids' books. I didn't know he had such an extensive reputation among adults.

Ashanti to Zulu was a great book--it had one African tribe per letter, with a relevant illustration and a couple paragraphs about them as a people. Back in the day I could rattle off all 26. He and his wife were my second favourite artist to Tom Feelings (And Moja Means One).

Oh, Beau. Ladyhawke is a classic! Doomed love! Charming pickpockets! Villains!

How the fuck? The kid who plays Joffrey is 20! I gotta reshuffle some things in my head, but this article: [link] made him sound older than the fifteen year old I was envisioning.
