Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Monday is Emancipation Day in DC. Parade, festival, fireworks. Unfortunately, we have to work.

And, in random news, my mother once worked with the Strauss's ... grandson, I believe.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

JOIN ME IN SMALL REWARDS TO GET THROUGH THE DAY!

I already had a cookie for second breakfast, which maybe I should have put off as a reward, but whatever. I have one main thing to do today. I have already done several small things.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I love these quotes from Cory Booker:

The mayor said, "Yesterday, all my problems were really big to me. Today things feel a lot more clear," Booker said. "And I have a lot more respect for firefighters!

"As my chief staff and others were teasing me, I'm ill-equipped to do firefighter union negotiations - 'These guys, give them everything!'"

Always Anti-fascist!

Aw, another reason to love Cory Booker. And I've seen "Brick City" I thought I knew them all.(Wirefiends especially should see "Brick City")

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I have not seen Brick City but if you want to (a) fall in love a little bit with Cory Booker and (b) feel like The Wire let politicians off too easy, see Street Fight.

I feel compelled to do the llama drama sign after that rant session. summary: this woman got chewed out for taking out-of-town employee participants away from the hotel on night one of the conference (instead of them attending a welcome reception). The out-of-towners requested the leaving, but it was something only 2 of them did because of a personal relationship with this local employee. After getting chewed out, she proceeded to drive the same 2 out-of-towners to 1)an offsite dinner and 2) their departure at the airport. Wouldn't you have stopped? like told them sorry, you need to take the conference transportation the rest of the time? good gravy.

I am a bit sad to realize how cynical I am because I too LOVE Cory Booker and I am overwhelmed with sadness anticipation what I am sure is some scandal that will come out about him soon. mistresses, drugs, kicked puppies, embezzelment, something.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

No Lee, we cannot.

Hmph.

So I've discovered two things that may not have survived last night's storm: one of the Japanese Maples in my front yard, and the remote entry/locking system on my car.

I am hoping that letting them both dry out will bring them back to life, because I like the tree and I really really don't want to think about how much fixing the car will cost.
