so the reason I did hotwire is that I have gotten really great rates and not having to do any of that bargain bullshit. Not that priceline is a problem, I just haven't wanted to bother.
There is a traveler's web site out there that discusses what good rates are for various parts of the country for hotels. I don't know if the site also does rental cars.
Anyway, at least with hotwire, you will get a sense of what the going rates are depending on size of car.

Oh- one of my student's mind was blown because one of my fellow instructors was once my instructor in college, which meant that he was clearly older than I am. She said she just thought of all the grownups as 50!
