Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think it's unlikely I'm having the best years of my life right now, but I don't see any reason they couldn't start next week...I've liked pretty much all of my life except the parts with the distracting pain, so we'll see.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm driving a couple of hours north to catch the annular eclipse. Probably doing the pinhole thing to see it, is that effective for annular? I think I've only seen partials before.

information libertarian

We are way out of the zone, sadly, for the eclipse. But! I should look up whether the local observatory has any events this summer.

EDIT: They do! And they are awesome!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yes, I think so.

brillig

I remember a SF story in Analog back in the 70s/80s called "Jill the Giant Killer" where they used tac nukes to disrupt giant tornados. What a brave new world we used to live in.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

We're under the annular path, but just barely. So we're throwing the telescope in the car and heading a bit north to one of our school locations, where we'll do pinhole stuff with the students, and then watch through the scope. (When lori told us it was happening on fb, we went out and bought the solar filter, which has been no end of fun already. Sunspots!)
