If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That whole thing is just Palin-levels of baffling.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

In Australia, we actually do have a rule that you can't run for Parliament if you hold foreign citizenship. (If I wanted to run, I'd have to renounce my UK citizenship.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Grey's I did not see that coming. I thought that the job offers in other hospitals was more than sufficient to give them an out if anyone decided not to renew their contract.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I caught the very end of Grey's ... wow.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In Australia, we actually do have a rule that you can't run for Parliament if you hold foreign citizenship. (If I wanted to run, I'd have to renounce my UK citizenship.)

It makes sense!

It does rather. Makes far more sense than America's rule that people born OS can't be President. (Australia has had many PMs from overseas, including the incumbent, Julia Gillard. Our third PM was born in Chile.)

information libertarian

I have to write a cover letter for a job that's not a perfect fit for me and that has potentially serious problems (the commute). But I have to apply for this job because it's only the 3rd job in my field that's been posted in the last 9 months. (Job 1 they decided to fill with two part-time positions at a lower level, job 2 I applied for a month ago and heard nothing yet.)

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Has anyone heard from ita lately? I am a little nervous about her absence.

I know it is crazy after all these years, but I still can't figure out the artistic director of the theatre- I think it is a personality that just does not exist in business, which completely thrives on conflict and is completely self centered, but is also a fairly nice person. For example, I have literally been asking for the same minor change in schedule for 3 -4 years and have been told it is impossible. We finally got the change, but it was because the administrative assistant YELLED at him for about a half an hour. Like, you seriously have to raise your voice and YELL to be heard. Which is so weird, because what boss likes his employees to yell at him! Then, at the end of the yelling, he said he did not understand why I never brought it up before! However, we have an employee who is not doing her job and is completely obstructive to everything. She has been written up several times and has not made improvements in her behavior. The head of the english department also was involved. But even though there is no improvement, he can't bring himself to fire her, even though it would benefit the whole program.
