oh, can someone look up stock prices on US gun manufactures and/or ammunition manufacturers. Are there any fully made in US anymore?

I'd bet on a rise in stock for the next year. I wanna get in on the wakkaloon paranoia.

Our wings are not tired.

Stayed home from work today because I worked until 3AM. Seemed like working in my jammies was the best plan. Wish I could actually sleep during the day, but no.

Anyway, since I have been working in front of the tube it has been lovely to be overloaded with political news, but super concerning to watch the weather issues in the NE. My heart just breaks for those displaced by Sandy. What a continuing mess.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

moving to Italy

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Oh wait, they're serious. They do realize the unemployment rate is in double digits (10.8%), and it will take them 10 years to become a citizen, but first they have to be a legal resident AND have to prove sufficient financial resources and no criminal record. And if they move anywhere south of Rome, the unemployment rate jumps to 15-20%.

That may be OK though, because unemployment benefits are GUARANTEED by the constitution.

Tom, he was convicted, but he still has a mandatory two appeals left. The sentence won't become final until they're done. He'll probably never serve a day in jail, because there's only 1 year left on the statute of limitations and his lawyers will tie up the system for far longer than that. The Italian justice system is barely functioning at the best of times. This isn't unusual.

Wow. That is...a LOT of racism.

Yeah. Also, I want to know what the guy ranting about the government poisoning us with chemicals was on about. I assume not about protecting the Clean Water Act. Is this a flouride thing?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I want to know what the guy ranting about the government poisoning us with chemicals was on about.

Flouride or chemtrails probably.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Prop 30 passed in CA!

That is more good news from a night of good news!

North and South Dakota continue to be the only states in the country without felony animal abuse laws.

Not good news. Bastards.

Virginia went blue again! I am surprised and happy.

Man, what a night. Now today I've got to get my head into getting ready to go to the UK. We still have no electricity at the NJ office, so I haven't worked since last Tuesday. This is turning into the longest vacation I've ever had! It may have cured me of my obsessive need to work, too. Someone else is gonna have to do all my work for nine days, and there's nothing I can do about it. I've achieved fuck-it-all nirvana.

I am feeling so optimistic I set up payments to my IRAs which I haven't done in 2 years.

Oy Vey - another co-worker just started in on how the Healthcare reform changes are going to tax businesses so much they will start laying off people and unemployment is going to go through the roof.

msbelle, funny you should say that. I was just looking that up.

The Kaiser Family Foundation has a great website with a lot of useful information on the ACA. Frankly, I found it more helpful than the government site. For one thing, there's actually helpful information for employers.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Whoo-boy. Lots of anti-Obama griping at work today. Trying to stay low-key because the owners are hard-core Fox News Obama is an evil socialist Muslim (one of them actually said as much in a meeting) types and I otherwise like my job.

Had to correct a Co-worker though.

"The Dow dropped 300 points because Obama was re-elected."

Me: "It will go back up."

Him: "In 4 years."

Me: "You do realize it's gone up 5000 points since he was elected, right?"

Him: "No, it didn't."

Me: "It was around 8000 when Obama took office. It's around 13000 now."

Him: "I don't think so." (walks away)

I sent him an IM with the Dow from 1 -21 -09 and today. 2 hours later and no reply.

Stuff like this frustrates the hell out of me. I have no problem discussing differences of policy and philosophy with people. But I hate them refusing to know or accept factual data.
