The issue is, though, if you misread the text then your interpretation is wrong. It's a fine line to balance, but there are some readings that clearly miss the meaning of the text completely.
This! There is room for interpretation, but you gotta first make sure you are reading the lines correctly.

Fair enough, Kat. I had a sophomore honors English teacher who believed that there was exactly one right interpretation, though, and that sucked.

"Learn how to make reasonably sure you're not misreading" is as useful as "don't be locked into just one way of thinking about it."

I also don't really want to talk about this, but I'm not at peace with how torn Tim is on Obama/Romney. I feel like anyone who doesn't think Romney is a shambling horror is directly attacking me as a woman. And all of our queer friends. (And what the hell, trans* rights, goddamn it, hello???) And the middle class. AND DOGS GOD DAMN IT.
I know he's more moderate than I am; I knew that when we got together. I don't expect him to be a mirror of my views. But then part of me does. And then I wonder if he secretly thinks I'm a socialist Muslim gay-married wingnut. t edit I MIGHT BE.
