"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

MFNlaw, definitely. And I might be needing a floor to crash on and/or a lift from the airport. I might not, because the hotel for the event is super close to the area they've got permitted for the protest, and that might just be the easiest thing logistically, but of course, if I'm having to fund it personally, cost might be a factor as to whether or not I can do it.

And Kat, yeah. I think it's going to be extremely impactful, and I want to do it, and I want to be able to say afterwards that I was there. I'm a friend of a friend of the organizer, so I really am kinda hoping to be able to be one of the apologizers.

We've actually apologized before, in person, to our closest Navajo friends, on behalf of Anglos and on behalf of the church, for what they went through. They've never talked about it afterward, but based on their response at the time, I think it was really important that we did that.

And I would have liked our nation to do that too. And they kind of did, but the way they buried it in an unrelated bill, and never did press or anything about it, was disrespectful. So this event will hopefully both draw attention to the shameful way it was done, but also actually be a publicly spoken apology.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Liese, echoing Kat, that does sound like an amazing thing, and I can see why you'd want to do it.

Typing on phone hard.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

'Suela,

was it you who mentioned Movember? Apparently some women are interested in not shaving for November. Men are displeased.

Liese, my email is in my profile; please include me on any info if you don't want to post it here. I can't guarantee this early but I'm tentatively planning to be off work then, and I'd like to support that.

(I probably can't offer a bed, but I may be able to provide taxi service or something else that could help with the dollars of it all. I feel like you should be there and I would like to help with that, basically.)

Also: damn, Ottawa's expensive to get to.

From way back, It's the goddamn Canadian taxes. Flights are insanely expensive here.

Wow, Checker's system is down, they aren't dispatching calls. Good thing I called early to arrange for a cab, was able to contact the other major cab company in the city.

Grits: Wonder if WF hurricane-no-fees-this-week applies to overseas withdrawls....guess I'll test that out!

Gee, I guess I need to shut down the 'puter now. Cab coming within the hour. Have fun, alls! God only knows if I'll remember my password.

Folks, Casper is asking to watch Buffy. What say you about appropriateness for a 9 year old 4th grader? She doesn't see a lot of mature movies, though has seen stuff like Harry Potter movies and Ghostbusters. How old were Betsy's kids during the original airing, when we had the weekly Canadian Violence Ratings?
