I have no idea what language the computer was configured for (I probably skimmed past it)
English! They gave a Hindi interface and the kids went right around it. Which isn't my saying, "Yay English" so much as "Yay the language doesn't seem to matter" so kids can easily maneuver computer interfaces and the Internet.
So I forget if I've shared my good news: by virtue of persistence (I assume) and new meds (yay benzodiazepines), my mother has agreed explicitly to move to the new assisted living facility. So, yay.
Of course, we have to get them there, and get them settled, and get rid of their old furniture, and sell the condo, but one thing at a time.
My two older brothers are both flying in for Thanksgiving, which will make things much easier I hope.
Most of the language configurations I've used have been a bit shy of complete, and there are always keyboard to screen issues--if you give someone a Hindi keyboard, how do you start using English features?
Okay--I have two things to say about CW shows right now: Mr. Arrow? That's not actually a costume.
Green Lantern
could give you tips on hiding from people that have seen you, ah, intimately. And: Kids of Mystic Falls? Those are not morals. Or ethics, maybe. There are not enough good ideas on this show for them to graduate to Stargate. Well, or brains either.
Oh man. I just got back from seeing the space shuttle. So cool.
YAYAY Suela!
Kat, I saw your pics on fb! How completely awesome is that?
I'm so jealous, Kat.
Suela, that IS good news. Will certainly make the move easier.
Hee, hi, drunkyville, how's the weather over there?
Pleasantly chilly, and sunny during the days. And only spinning indoors.

That's amazing! I mean, I know that it probably won't be an easy path to end up there still but it's a huge step from her last reaction.
I really hope the benzos continue helping with your mom and that you can get them moved with minimal pushback. It's really a good choice and it's hard to watch you want to help and her fighting from misgivings that are not based in reality but probably very real to her.

They weren't superclear on their parameters. I assumed Hindi interface but probably just a basic translation. Unless there are a lot of native interfaces for Hindi that I don't know. But the kids were given something of a native interface and went to IE instead.
And most of the web is English by default. There was an interesting part of the article talking about how this could increase Hindi content exponentially. And not because the kids would necessarily want it, because people would see them as a target market.
I don't even have real feels on CW shows currently. I watch a lot of them, but I can't try to logic my way out of most.
To take my students, all 307, on a field trip... It would cost $25 for all of them. I kinda want to schedule a trip for Noah and grace's school.
How so little, Kat? Wouldn't they need to rent a few buses? Although now you mention it, that's a hella cool field trip. Must rec to the kids' teachers.
