Simon: I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can... How do I know you won't kill me in my sleep? Mal: You don't know me, son. So let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

People have been speculating that the “Untitled Pixar Day of the Dead Film” might actually be Grim Fandango.

Drool! I would love that so much.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow, we just had a thunderstorm that freaked the cat out more than anything from yesterday.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Damnit - I offered to carpool with other Brooklynite co-workers, and both of the people who responded live way out in Bushwick! That's not the part of Brooklyn I meant! t /South Brooklyn snob

For an unplanned 4 day weekend, this one really put me through the wringer and I don't have much to show for it. Sure, shit gone done, but ...

OK, I voted, I cleaned, I did laundry, I lay writhing in sinus pain, I did a wine night, dealt with drips, had a cabinet fall off the wall and throw all its contents across the kitchen (I should've taken a before picture but you hit certain kinds of oh shit moments, and your soul is just dead,) rehung the cabinet with my wonderful handy neighbors (I can now say a local rockstar hung my cabinets?) FINALLY finalized a cat sitting schedule, manicure and at least all the clothes for the trip are in the bag. Shoes chosen, I have all the necessary toiletries, I know where my passport is, camera batteries charged.

But the to do list is still so long! Finalize annual enrollment, working version of my annual goals, hand off certain routine tasks, schedule a bill pay, freak out, one last vacuum and load of soggy towels from the drip, freak out....

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm exhausted from just reading those lists. I'm so not cut out for adulthood.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

On my day off yesterday, I did one load of laundry. And watched four episodes of Upstairs, Downstairs! And painted my nails, but not until nighttime.

Oh, and I need to note that Pumpkin got out in the middle of the storm and ran all the way to the end of the block across porches and me chasing her and stepping in socks in big puddles and OY.

And apparently, I've reached critical levels of flake because I left off one of the catsitter's contact info!!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Ditto.

On the other hand, I really still love that we did a Buffista cookbook. I just had to look up a recipe. Sadly, it was one of mine but I haven't made it in a long time. Still, now I want to flip through it and get new ideas.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I use one of your recipes all the time, Cass! I love that cookbook. I just looked through it recently to see what high in protein recipes were in there that I might have missed back in my all-pasta-all-the-time diet days.
