"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

People in the comments of the Christie article seem to think that as soon as the federal check clears, Christie will go back to attacking Obama.

It seems unlikely that he could go back on those strongly worded statements, but I have seen lying in this Presidential race that has been absolutely unprecedented, so perhaps Christie will join the fray.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Like msbelle said, Christie doesn't really have a filter. He's got a history of saying whatever the hell he feels like saying. Usually I disagree with him, but I can't really remember him ever outright lying, or saying things he didn't mean in order to get onto someone's good side politically, so I don't really see him starting that now.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

People in the comments of the Christie article seem to think that as soon as the federal check clears, Christie will go back to attacking Obama.

The check is coming either way, so I doubt that's his motivation. I do think this will be short-lived, but it's a startling development.

Bottom line, for all his legion of faults Christie sees himself as too much of a maverick and straight shooter to fling the bullshit no matter what he personally thinks the way many prominent republicans now do.

information libertarian

I disagree with Christie politically, and he's definitely not my style, but as someone from the Northeast I kind of love him in a way, too. He's a personality type that I can't really even imagine outside of NY/NJ.

Edit: Similarly, I used to fly internationally out of JFK a fair amount, from a base in CT. I always KNEW I was back in the US when I got on Connecticut Limo, which always had these women in charge of dispatch who were sort of "only in NYC" types. Loved 'em.

Because books.

This. Yesterday he was talking about rigging up power if your was out, and he basically said, "If it looks stupid, it is stupid, so just be patient."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I can see him just not giving a fuck about presidential politics right now, just do whatever he can for New Jersey. And good for him, that seems appropriate for a governor.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I think he just literally doesn't give a shit right now.
