Tracy: Well-- That call -- That call means you just murdered me. Mal: No, son. You murdered yourself. I just carried the bullet a while.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, that fire is crazy. I hope most of the residents were elsewhere.

My sister called me in a panic at about midnight last night, which freaked me out because my bro and SIL are in the DC area. But it was another kind of environmental emergency: a raccoon in her trashcan.

First she couldn't go inside because she has to pass the bins in a narrow alley to get to her door and was afraid it was going to leap out at her. Then she realized it was trapped and it became a rescue mission. Then she realized it was a baby and it became a rescue mission with lots of cooing. Finally it got released and fled under the porch and now she's all consumed with worry about how it will reunite with the mama raccoon. @@

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Have all the NYistas checked in? Just woke up and saw crazy on my television.

Jessica and Trudy have both been on FB, so they're good. Plus Tom. Who else do we have in NYC anymore? I feel like I'm forgetting someone.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I have been incredibly fortunate with this storm. Brief power outage last night(couple minutes) and no other problems. Government closed today, so I slept in. ~ma to all in NY/NJ.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

From DC - in town, at least, the rain has stopped, the wind's died down. I haven't been out since Sunday afternoon but looking out the window, our nice sheltered courtyard is full of leaves and small branches. The lawn furniture came through just fine, although the umbrellas were either taken in or are now ... in Pennsylvania, perhaps.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think Maria lost power last night.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I remained confused why I have to be at work when NYC is in such a state.

Because books.

I'm here. Our power stayed on all night, which is incredible. The rest of the block was out for about two hours, but the transformer is literally right across the street from me, and PECO came and restored it. There are branches down, and there were a lot of sirens and flashing lights and bangs last night, but everything seems pretty quiet this morning. Our basement has a few inches of water in spots, but nothing dire.

I'm just trying to see how bad the damage is down the shore, and what's going on in the city. The flooding is really unbelievable.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

With the subways down, will it be possible for everyone in NYC to make it to work? (I mean not today, but later when everything's open again.)
