THERE IS NO SUN.
True! But if the power does go out and is out for a few days it can be used after the storm when the sun comes out again.
Provided, of course, this isn't an End Times storm and the sun does actually come out again!

Yes Jesse you should do that. Ok, I have the bull statue cam up and running. I figure that is about the lowest lying area I can get a view of.
I just saw this on my sisters FB feed - FDR drive is underwater:
So far things in my part of Brooklyn are not that bad, but of course I haven't been outside. There hasn't been much rain at all in NYC so far so all the water is coming from the storm surge and I'm pretty far inland. My main concern is projectiles - the wind is VERY strong and gusty, and I know at least some of my neighbors did not bring in their Halloween decorations. (The mosque next door still has patio furniture on their roof deck FFS.)
My stomach is unhappy. I think it is half swim+coffee first thing and half anxiety manifesting.
the bull cam is now shaking, but there is still a steady stream of tourists coming for pictures and cars going by.
The flooding this morning will subside, until we get the REAL storm surge this evening. Sandy will be making landfall in NJ at 8pm tonight, at high tide, during a full moon.
Also: taping a home's windows with masking or duct tape does nothing to protect them, and plywood doesn't help a whole lot either.

Yeah, I'm assuming the MTA will still be shut down tomorrow, which means no work and no school and no playing outside FOR TWO DAYS IN A ROW.
Stay safe, y'all.
My college came in #2 in the Least Beautiful Campuses. The picture at the top of the article at HuffPo is my dorm: [link]
My college is #9 on that list.
