Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

In this market, you can't necessarily assume you didn't get a job because you did something wrong. My employer is receiving 900 resumes for posted positions -- lots of the people are perfect for the jobs.

These are only internally posted due to a hiring freeze, so there aren't that many people applying. They're probably getting about 40-50 resumes for these jobs.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I saw a commercial for the new Subway BBQ Smokehouse Chicken sandwich and then I walked to Subway to buy a BBQ Smokehouse Chicken sandwich.

Well? Was it good? Was it worth the walk?

It was actually pretty good! I mean, for a Subway BBQ chicken sandwich.

I miss ita.

In other news, I was in training today: it started at 10AM and was supposed to go until 4:15 but instead ended at 2:30. So because I'm a bad bureaucrat, I didn't go back to the office and instead went window-shopping. And then I texted a friend and had two drinks and some snacks with her.

And then my sister called, and she was still at the office (this was at 7PM) and so we met her at Maxfield's downtown and had another drink and some nibblies while looking at the fabulous Parrish painting of the Pied Piper.

And now I am home and thinking I am a broke lightweight. But some days you gott ado that.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I miss ita.

So do I.

Internally posted positions always come with a side of they-might-already-have-someone-in-mind at my workplace. Not always, but it's often the case, even when they do go through the interviewing process.

I wish all my mornings were this entertaining before 8 am. On my way back from El Trouvador, the cafe/bar I found open yesterday (where this morning I accidentally reverted to french and everyone understood each other much better than my I have the vocabulary of a two year old spanish) someone attempted to flamenco with me and my umbrella. They were weaving down the street, singing, and not badly at that. I laughed so hard.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I'm not going to pretend I haven't done this to Jilli. She makes a squinchy face. It's fun.

Hey! I mean, I know you're doing it, but still. Hey!

Of course I also give her sips of gin-based cocktails for the same reason.

Gin, blech. I keep thinking someday I'll try something gin-based and it will be yummy, because in theory, I should like gin. But no.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Yup. I hope it is what it needs to be.

Back in Madrid. Where it is also raining, still. Ah well, I can go off and hide at Mercado San Miguel, my favorite and see about tickets to Toledo tomorrow.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

When I'm touristing, I look at the rain this way: it keeps the other tourists away.

I'm not surprised that it seems that Spain has a high turnout for demonstrations and nightlife -- there's like a 20% unemployment rate there right now, IIRC.

Today is community cleanup day in Somerville, so I'm thinking of getting my gardening gloves and heading to the nearest site in an hour.
