I will fill out the application tomorrow. I tend to want ridiculous names, so not sure if Bailey would stick. Just found the Facebook page with her baby pictures though - omgoodness, adorbs.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I know I haven't posted in forever, but I'm reading and sending out ~ma as necessary. Today had just made me miss our dog. I haven't seen Coco in more than five months. I wish things were different.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

For most annoying "sexy costume" I nominate the Sexy Burka. Sigh.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Huh, I get a "This listing has been removed" when I click that link. I guess it annoyed someone else too.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, Sparky, when I saw the news about your friend's dog, all I could think was how hard it must be for you. I mean, I know you're happy for them, but it doesn't bring Sass home.

Yeah, I saw that on fb, Kat. Fucking asinine.

So today all day I spent time chasing around an artist and getting shit ready for him unexpectedly, and when he got there, late, all he wanted to do was talk about how he'd given up a better gig in Phoenix for our kids. I don't care, motherfucker, I didn't ask you for the gig, you had time in your schedule and asked us. I would way rather have had you not book, and I could have back my cash. Jack, I'll have you know, that the *last band* gave me, because they felt bad taking money from the missions coffers!

But whatevs, my kids enjoyed it, and tomorrow will be your paying gig, (which, don't expect much.) and then I will be done with you.

But that is why I'm sitting at my desk, drinking diet ginger ale, and blearily doing data entry at 9 at night.

Swouncing

Skipping oh-my-goodness-how-can-it-be-that-much-again, because, according to Jon B. "If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me" Oct 18, 2011 8:09:00 pm PDT , today is FAQBaby's first birthday.

Happy birthday, you lovely almost-FAQToddler! With lots of wishes for your father and your mother, too, of course!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What would Edna Mode say? Oh, wait, we know.

I fell asleep last night without sending the daily status report, and I'm waking up today feeling severely under the weather. Thankfully it's a planned day to work from home, but I'm looking nervously at the computer and all the tasks for this project that's getting closer and closer to due.

I sent the users a list of things they need to validate for user acceptance testing and they're pushing back two weeks later. I guess they didn't think I meant it before? I kept asking them to tell me not just the things they were having trouble with, but what things they'd tested and not had trouble with, so I'd have an idea of how close we were to done, and they kept not answering. Until they sent their manager down to say I was mean.

Dudes--I've been saying the same thing since the year dot--the system can't go live unless you sign off on it. If you can' do that this week, tell me NOW, so we can delay going live until next week. Which they won't do. Then--the only compromise is me not asking them for results. They still have to give them to me, though.

They totally fail to understand how big a deal the project is, and how resoundingly it could fail. ON SUNDAY.

Coding and Sleeping

I threw some facts at him, Scrappy, but he'll probably discount them because facts have a liberal bias.

Nicely done. Jesse too. Better than I would have done. Arguing politics is so time-consuming for me, I can't pull stuff off the top of my head like others can and have to look up things.
