"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

FWIW,

my dad was in the navy and taught me "military" time. All of my computers and phones are on military time. Drives Beau nuts.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm so sorry, Sparky.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My first customising steps with anything that keeps date and time that allows--convert it to show military, switch the date to D/M/Y. Except work--I have to keep that M/D/Y otherwise I'll fuck shit up.

But, honestly--there are two ways to convert--add/subtract 12, or add/subtract 2 and pretend you did 12. THERE IS NO FAST WAY. I'm impressed that the network's dumbest article to date is on Lifehacker. I thought a little bit better of them.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Speaking of hard ways and easy ways--I'm trying to convince my developer to write file copy instructions that are one step, rather than two. Log into server A, map a drive to the source drive on server B, copy the files.

Apparently that's not possible.

So I tell her it wasn't my idea, it was a developer's idea, and now she's considering it. It's moved from impossible to high risk.

She wants the person to log into server B, copy the files to a midpoint, log into server A, copy the files from the midpoint to A. This is over 50GB of data, three times. The downside to my idea seems to be that it was my idea.

One of the two of us has a computer science degree. Only one. And it doesn't even take a driver's license to work out HOW TO COPY FILES FROM B TO A.

eta: Oh, hey! She doesn't know how to share a drive in Windows. She's going to do research. Holy fucking...yeah.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Argh, I keep getting texts in Spanish. Spam, of course.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

switch the date to D/M/Y

Not YYYY/MM/DD ? I can't use it at work, and my genealogy program doesn't support it, but I use it wherever I can. It makes sorting and ordering easy.

brillig

We just had a problem with a customer who had changed his dates to military time and our program wouldn't install. He was not pleased. But you can have your cool customization, dude, or you can have our program. And the people who pay you say you need our program. Sorry.
