Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, I will. Am working on being a better person.

Now tagless for your comfort.

They're cross-dressing!

The Tsavo man-eaters were maneless males.

We saw a lion in the Toledo Zoo who had been neutered for "behavior" problems. He lost his mane.

I'm pretty sure trying to schedule a meeting using out new conference room scheduling system and meeting calendar is going to make me kill someone. Possibly all of IT. So not integrated. I gave up and went to email and yeah, the system is useless because everyone has conflicts where none appear.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I posted this on FB last night, but I don't think I posted it here: we went to Urgent Care last night (at the bottom of the 8th inning of the Reds-Giants game, DAMN IT). Someone got a puncture wound in his leg Monday (perhaps you can tell by the pronoun it wasn't me). But Tim cleaned the wound really well (it was glass, not metal, that stabbed him) and thought he was up to date on his tetanus booster, so he didn't see a doctor Monday when it happened, even though his boss told him he should go get it looked at (because it's a PUNCTURE WOUND).

Yesterday morning, Tim said the wound area was sore (duh), and his leg was slightly red around the wound. But there was no swelling and no heat. So he went to work. After work, he said it was more sore, starting to swell, and a lot more red. (This man NEVER complains about physical maladies, so the fact that he mentioned it immediately freaked me out. But he waited until AFTER DINNER to casually say "My puncture wound is getting swollen.")

So off to Urgent Care we went. The doctor scolded Tim (rightfully so) for not getting medical attention Monday. He got an X-ray to be sure there were no shards of glass in the wound (there weren't), got a tetanus booster, and they're running a culture to make sure he doesn't have an infection with a bacterium resistant to the antibiotic they prescribed.

So he got antibiotics (which he might have to switch to a different one depending on the result of the culture), and orders to keep the wound clean and covered for the next 48 hours. And I played A LOT of Angry Birds in the waiting room. I can see why it's so addictive.

Lesson here: don't fuck around with puncture wounds.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yikes, Tim!

I know. I feel like I should have insisted he go to Urgent Care on Monday, but he's an adult who is my partner rather than my kid, so when he decided not to go, I wasn't going to badger him. (Plus I was pretty under the weather myself.)

And then the red swollen wound yesterday was sufficient to make Tim realize he made the wrong call. But...yeah. Puncture wounds are a whole different category than cuts (even deep cuts [which he gets at work as well (and, having just said that, now I'm REALLY glad he got his tetanus shot updated!)]).

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Oh, hey, this is me: For people with depression, mad and sad may blur.

Clinically depressed people have a hard time telling the difference between negative emotions such as anger, guilt, and embarrassment, a new study shows.
