Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

Oh, I weep for my town. On the local paper's website is a poll re: PBS funding. 4 options on the question of dumping the funding: Yes, Austerity is needed; No, PBS is valuable; Yes, Sesame Street is a Marxist plot; No, I'm a socialist. Unsurprisingly Austerity is winning, with PBS is valuable a significant second, but Marxist plot is showing about a quarter of the votes. I want to think there are a lot of satirical people around here, but I suspect a lot of people said, "Yes, the paper understands the truth! It's a brainwashing show!" The I'm a Socialist option does have a few votes, but I suspect that's where the ironic ones went.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You shouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of never knowing who you are going to have to deal with and whether or not they are going to be cooperative.

This.

You guys, I went to yoga. For the second time in my life. It was pretty good! Although I got totally thrown by a position I couldn't even figure out, and the leader came over and showed me another version. So I got to do reclining pigeon, which just makes me laugh really hard as a concept. I will go back. Good thing, because the Living Social deal is for five classes.

OH and Connie, you know that newspaper polls don't reflect public opinion or even reader opinion except by coincidence, I'm sure. Why PZ Myers urges readers to shift opinion polls - both to avoid the poll being a propaganda victory viewpoints he disagrees with, but also to emphasize that polls with self-selected participants are not representative of larger populations.

I know they're just a representation of the people who go to the website and who care enough to click on something. But cross-referencing with other local news sites and their comments tells me that the idea that PBS is an affront to God and Country and All That Is Right is not an uncommon belief. Heck, I found it telling that the website even phrased their options that way--and oddly reassuring. It means that there's a snarky sense hidden within the walls of the paper that joyously anticipates President Romney and the Golden Age he will usher in.

So then I ran back out to Oktoberfest and got a burger from the place that's opening up on my corner soon. It was delicious! Which could be a problem, since they are, as noted, opening up on my corner.

Oh, the asshole medical people.

The tow didn't come until 12:30. Which, fine. Except you said 11:25 at the outset and then just kept telling me 10 minutes. And the tow guy showed me when he received the dispatch. 12:10. Uh huh. Dispatch fucked up and didn't have the decency to admit it.

Oh well, it is done. Now to figure out how to get to work tomorrow.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I saw this image and I think I'd like to enlarge it poster size and put it on all my walls:
