Buffy? I like that. That girl's so hot, she's buffy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have Monday off too, in the classic irony of Native kids "celebrating" Columbus.

Let's say it's a walk-out in protest?

I have the dojo kids by myself today. The eldest (4) had a total meltdown when mom dropped them off. I haven't had to deal with a kicking screaming child in a long time. He is now happily playing Legos. I've already sent mom a picture so she knows he is ok.

My older kids will do "indigenous peoples day" stuff instead, because they're savvy, but the kids at that school are totally all "hey, day off!"

Heh, Suzi, Legos solve a multitude of problems.

The status is NOT quo.

I don't get Columbus or Veterans Day off so we can have the entire week off at Thanksgiving. In my book, that's more than a fair trade.

So I developed a cold while camping with the students this week. I am sniffly and sneezy and all the other dwarves.

CJ is out on a winter ops search and rescue today. I hope the person is found soon.

Good luck to CJ!

Yeah, I would make that trade, Pix. But we're going to be "off" that whole time anyway, because we have a giant fundraising event directly before turkey day, and the SO is going to tour a little more right after. And somewhere in there we need to go to Nashville to hang with our musician buddy and talk to his wife about our work.

Anyway, pork is marinating. If you had instructions that called for 2 (1 pound) pork tenderloins, would you interpret that as totaling one pound, or one pound each? I initially read it as totaling 1 pound. So I thawed two (okay, not tenderloin because I'm cheap) but then the rest of the recipe called for so much marinade I decided they must have meant two pounds total, so I threw in two more, which are not thawed. So they will be unevenly marinating as they thaw, but oh well.

I would have said two pounds total. But if you're marinating for a while, it should be delicious either way!

Lost hiker was found alive, but very cold. It is 37 degrees here in town. Don't want to think what it was overnight for him.

Yikes. Glad to hear it. Hope he has a strong recovery.
