in 53 years I've been alive, nobody in my family thought to mention that they saw the Hindenburg go down. O.o
Hah! I just found out that my dad saw the Hindenburg go overhead on its last voyage. He grew up in Hackensack, I think.
Spent a long time with the folks yesterday; for once we had a reasonable conversation about the move, without any yelling. (She is still afraid and can't remember having seen the place, but she wasn't hysterical.) Sorted through Mom's jewelry, much of which is crap, but she has some old pieces from her mother, so I took a few to the jeweler to get cleaned & repaired.
Then climbing & pizza/salad/beer with a friend, then Dr. Who & bed. This morning we did another long run in the woods on a route we hadn't done before. And yay it was over 4 miles, which is great.
And now I have to fill out forms for my parents, and do laundry. Woot for Sundays.
I was looking at the tv listings tonight and it seems that ABC and CBS are trying to battle for my soul.
ABC: Once Upon a Time, Revenge, 666 Park Avenue
CBS: Amazing Race, Good Wife, Mentalist
Fingers remaining crossed for your parents, Consuela. Alas, she may well not remember that she agreed and was reassured many times, but it will be worth it, even if you have to feel like a bully before its over. (You're really NOT. Sometimes, even when somebody is yelling and crying and whatnot, you are being the best child possible under the circumstances.)
I am SO glad that Mom got into Ann's Choice (an "independent living community"), as I feel it gave her some extra years in comfort and safety with the support she needed.
Next weekend is another marathon cleanout session in her PA apartment, which at least has the bonus of together time with family I love very much.
Thanks, Theo. The Buffistas have been really helpful keeping me driving forward on this: reassuring me that this is the way to go has really helped.
I'm really glad that cleaning out your mother's place is good family time, Theo.
I feel your pain, le n, Sunday night TV is crowded!
And my Monday night isn't much better. Sometimes it can take me until Thursday until the backlog is cleaned out.

I know, right??

That's really nice to hear. I feel like you only hear horror stories about families, but I can totally picture mine being great, going through my grandmother's stuff. (Both as the person most likely to die next, and the one with a bunch of descendants.)

I only finished up last week's TV this morning, and there's more shows starting this week. It's a problem. Sunday, Wednesday and Thursdays I get way overbooked.
On the Sunday front, I should also note PBS: Masterpiece, plus this new Call The Midwives, which is apparently a huge hit in the UK. AND The Amazing Race starts tonight!
