Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Finally, colleges and universities need to encourage faculty participation in pedagogical training so that they encourage success in various gateway courses - particularly writing and gateway science and math courses.

Could not agree more, le n. I think my school does a pretty decent job of offering summer classes to local students to help them acquire the writing skills they'll need in college, but the international students have been left far behind. The problem is even worse at the graduate level believe it or not. Grad students come in with the knowledge base needed for their coursework but many don't have the EL skills they need, especially the writing skills.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Yay a plumber is coming this morning! Except he might not be here until noon, so I have a morning to kill. If I'd known that, I could have gone running.

I suppose I could have taken a shower at the gym last night, but I was tired and didn't have any clean clothes with me.

Well, I'll do some paperwork and walk the dog...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I should go running. And I need a shower. But I have so many other things to do too. Is a conundrum.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have to say--I switched electric toothbrush brands from Braun to Philips and it feels like the delta when I first switched to electric in the first place. My teeth feel uber clean, and I feel less guilty about not flossing (the Braun had a separate faux-floss head) although I know I shouldn't. Who looks at a toothbrush and thinks "Ooh, this could be a little more sonic?" But it works...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I had a notice last night that people would be coming through my apartment between ten and noon. No one yet! This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder if landlords just post these notices to fuck with people and make them clean up. (Not that I cleaned. But I did load the dishwasher.)

So the guy did come, I still have no idea why, because he literally just looked around, but he did not say anything about the cat, which is a relief. My broker told me the cat was fine here, but then I got a resident handbook that said no pets, so I was a little apprehensive.

Man, we had the dumbest system issue yesterday (a user locked us out of admin access to one of the applications), and jeez....he's completely embarrassed, because that was a ridiculous thing to do, and he's not supposed to have admin access. We're in trouble because we let him have admin access (my boss inherited it, he didn't know. I inherited it--I didn't know. The people who made that decision are long gone, and I will get dinged for not knowing, but honestly--I've never logged into this piece of software. No one on our team has.

I'm working through the shaming my boss gave me by teasing the business user, but, wow, I swear stuff is happening to me that makes me look bad this month. I am such an innocent victim...

I need a victory, personal or professional (although professional would be best) to fix September. Man, if I hadn't had that excellent vacation, I don't even know...

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

My DH will be gone for 2 weeks in October, the person in my dept who handles most of the faculty requests will be going on Grand Jury duty for 4 weeks starting mid-October and another person will be teaching in Poland . . . Packing and moving should be fun!

Haha, this is pretty much my life at the moment. Still, yay new house and more room for the same money! I missed the link but it sounds adorable.

flea, great news about your house in Georgia! Also, how would you like to come put your unpacking/organizing skills to use in Nashville? Offer also open to msbelle and anyone else who loves this kind of thing. I can pay you in baby snuggles and tacos. There is a guest room, but first you will have to unpack and put away everything in it. And finish painting it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You know, the problem with needing to do business on facebook is that there's not just business on facebook. Signed, what happened to the last hour? And also, is it time for lunch yet?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda is six today! Huzzah! She was in good cheer and liked her braids and was excited with her new presents (unicorn shirt, unicorn fountain...)

And I have been to the DMV and renewed the registration on our car and put the sticker on so the CHP will stop pulling me over and got the DMV to write down the CHP ticket and it only took an hour.

Plus I got to talk to an older woman who was a master printer and had taught etching at San Francisco Art Institute. (Which she saw me reading about in one of my Beat books.)
