Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I walked 9 blocks to first grade. I was six at the most, started kindergarden at 4. (Dec Birthday). The only time it ever caused a problem was some teacher showed us a film on how important was to stop and smell the flowers. There were a lot of flowers along the route to school, so next day I stopped to sniff them all and got to school two hours late.

Oy Consuela. That is NOT a tactful way to share that information.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Typo,

I read that the boss was trying to be helpful.

But was this his way of letting her know her job was in jeopardy? Cause if so, it still seems tactless - even though the intentions were helpful. Says - sometimes the king of well intentioned tactlessness

But was this his way of letting her know her job was in jeopardy?

No. I've been waiting for over a year for them to post the position so I could apply for it as a regular federal employee. (And hopefully outscore the dozens of veterans who will also apply.)

I've spent the last two years as a contractor, which is not an efficient use of taxpayer money.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Dear co-worker, I am going to disable the parentheses keys on your keyboard. Stop putting parenthetical asides in technical docs.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, Consuela -- I thought this day would never come!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Vibing hard that you'll outscore them all.

information libertarian

I just hauled out my winter clothes, and how can I have so many clothes and have nothing to wear? Also, how dare my 16-year-old parka be so worn out and ratty-looking (not to mention no longer waterproof, its major failing)? I desperately need: gloves, a raincoat, a fall jacket (I have a warm sweatshirt but it is PINK and NOT ME), jeans, walking shoes, and sweaters I am not bored to death of. (I do not currently need scarves or hats.)

I do have some nice-looking winter work clothes. Too bad I lack a job.
