Oh, wow. This place looks great. Oh, I feel like a witch in a magic shop.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Successful party?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

One with an alarm and probes? I don't know how I'd even work out if my probe had gone bad. Is there a recommended replacement cycle? I haven't gotten any wildly apparent discrepancies.

well he kinda just hung on the edges because he only knew the birthday boy, but we went back to the house with the family and he played there.

Sounds like a success to me!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It tells me things that are obviously around room temperature are 700 degrees. I replaced the probe once and that fixed the problem, but only for a month or so. I have no idea why.

Oh, no. mine seems reasonable. When the chicken wasn't reading the temperature CI said it should, it was also leaking quite pink. It may be off, but not radically, and hopefully not unhealthily.

I don't take the temp of pieces cooked smaller than whole, and I'm reasonably sure my mother never took the internal temperature of a chicken ever. Is my salmonella thing OTT?

Unrelatedly, I recently learnt my (retired) mother now teaches medical ethics.

I have no idea why. But it felt rude to ask, you know?

I lucked into some cheap strip steaks while picking up groceries for my parents, so plans to make pasta at home were put on hold until Tuesday. That cut of beef seems to work better for me in the kitchen than any other.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Were there really people who cried the time "ten o'clock and all's well"?

Night watchmen were the predecessors of the police, and were around in some form from the Middle Ages to the establishment of the modern police force. They were charged with patrolling a specific area from 10 p.m. to dawn. They called the time on the hour and watched for fires and crime. When they saw something, they raised the hue and cry to get citizens to respond.
