You like ships. You don't seem to be looking at the destinations. What you care about is the ships, and mine's the nicest.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Google maps says 35 minutes in current traffic. If he can get out of there before 5, he ought to be OK.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's more or less going against traffic, and cab drivers know all the back ways through Queens.

Do you know what airline he's on? If it's USAir, tell him to go to the USAir Shuttle area to check in -- there is never a line, and it all connects on the other side of security.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Thanks, guys. It would be really awesome if he could get home tonight, and even more amazing if he could get home before Rose goes to sleep, not least because I don't want to either keep her awake or wake her up to go take a trip to the airport at 10pm. We had a rough night last night (well, it was rough for me; she seemed perfectly happy to be wide awake from 3-5am) and I'm hoping I don't have to mess with her bedtime schedule too much tonight. And also, you know, I'm tired and M is tired and there's a shitload of work still to be done before Friday and I just want him home already. t /whine

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Consuela, I meant to say, that sounds wonderful, and I hope your mom settles in easily.

Thanks, Zen, and everyone else! I saw a nice yellow lab guide dog in the lobby when I was just over there, which I think is a good sign. Step one is to get through the visit and assessment without Mom freaking out.

Then there will be buying new furniture, boxing up the small amount of their belongings that will fit in the new place, dumping or storing everything else (I finally get the KitchenAid, yay!), getting various forms signed, and moving them in.

At which point Mom will lose her shit because she's not going to be in control of her own medications.

But we're also going to change their physicians to a clinic the place recommends, which specializes in geriatric care and has a bunch of specialties on site. And with that we might be able to get a handle on her mental health issues: the meds aren't doing the job, and might even be making things worse.

It's going to be hella stressful for the next month or so... t crosses fingers
