I hate the whole "no really, basically no one gets a 5!" system.
people in the U.S. tend to overestimate how many Jewish people, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Latinos there are in this country.
Huh. I totally would've over estimated blacks and Latinos. Not sure about asians, and I mightve underestimated Jews.I would've guessed closer to 20-25% for both black and Latino.
Frankly, Mitt has shown his complete lack of cpassion and empathy already, by driving to Canada with a sick dog zOn top of his car and his high school "prank", but mostly by his reaction to those incidents. Every time I think about the dog thing, I think we are the dog in that situation, and I don't want a president who is going to tie me to the roof of the car while I shit myself in terror
Hey, Sophia, can I repost this on fb? With or without attribution, your choice.
You can feel free to share if you fix the typos! I would rather not be tagged, as I really try to keep my facebook a swear word free zone, as I am friends with my 10 year old god daughter.
Skipping to the end to be a know-it-all. If someone else has answered this question, please ignore.
The loops at the tops of these boots are bootstraps. There used to be handles with hooks you hooked through the straps to pull the boots up over your thick socks. The metaphor of pulling oneself up by one's bootstraps was of working hard enough to graduate from stinky stable workboots to elegant shiny new boots--and servants to get them onto your feet.
If an employee keeps doing more and more, and expectations get higher and higher, you can't always meet them, and then you're just getting punished for doing a good job.
That's the Peter Principle in a nutshell.
One day, when I worked at Duke, someone anonymously left a magnet on my desk that read: "Remember, the better you do, the more they expect."
That's the Peter Principle in a nutshell.
I know! It drives me nuts. Most organizations (or large and/or corporate organizations) don't seem to acknowledge that some people don't want to manage, some people get to a point where they're content where they are, and some people do not have a burning desire to do anything except do a good job and then GO HOME.
My first boss at the Uni told me I would need to learn to work more slowly and be less enthusiatic or I would get taken advantage of. Sadly, she was right. She was one of the rare people who worked their way up from Secretary to just under dean level, so she probably knew what she was talking about!

One of the (many) reasons I'm glad I no longer work for That Large Software Company is that they don't get that. No, I am not manager material, and I KNOW THAT. I'd give myself and my team a nervous breakdown within a year, tops.
