We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Well, feathers in general. But yes, headdresses - [link]

Happy birthday to Lee!! May your next year and years be fabulous and fun, just like you.

And happy ten years to the Phoenix Board! When we temporarily went missing the other day, I realized I would rather lose the contents of my personal hard drive (heavens forfend) than lose the history of this board.

We have MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) hipsters. They were ahead of the curve. I can't figure out why anyone would want to look like me and my awkward preteen peers in the late 80s, tossed with a side of bedhead and unwashed, bonus muffintops or baggy boy butts, but there you go.

There's a waitress at a place I go to fairly often who I refer to as Sullen Girl. She's a boring sort of dark hipster EXCEPT! she earned her nickname! She wears the most affectless, soul-sucking expression while she works. It's truly amazing. I actually saw her laugh while out on break and it was a different person completely. I think people must tip her out of pity, thinking she's fallen down a deep dark well.

Has Romney just lost the election?: [link]

What the hell, hipsters.

Has Romney just lost the election?

I think he was always going to lose, but DAMN. Clips of that are going to be on an endless loop from now until election day. Coffin, meet nail.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Has Romney just lost the election?

Good G-d I hope so. But I'm still going to keep reminding people to register and to VOTE.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Is there something I'm missing about these videos? I watched all of them and didn't see anything that was even a little bit surprising or shocking. Are there really undecided voters out there who don't already know this is how Mitt Romney talks among his peers?

[edit: The line "Had [George Romney] been born of Mexican parents, I'd have a better shot of winning this" would be the kicker if it were actually in the video, but it's just quoted in the text. And honestly, even that's not a huge surprise - every analyst on the planet has been talking about how valuable the Hispanic vote is in this election cycle, so DUH, Romney has a clumsy and ignorant way of expressing that. OH NOES MITTENS IS MORE RACIST WITH HIS RICH WHITE GUY FRIENDS THAN IN FRONT OF A TV CAMERA. Seriously...this is news?]

There are a fair number of low information voters out there. I suspect that they are at least proportionately represented among the undecided, perhaps more than proportionately. Unlike a lot of liberals, I use that as term for people on both the left and right. Many people simply don't pay attention to the news and current events. That does not make them stupid, but when it comes to elections it makes them ill-informed.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

It is very interesting living in a purple state. We moved here in the middle of election season in 2008 and somehow it didn't seem as crazy. This year it is fascinating watching the evolution of the ads. The attack ads. The response ads. And how many millions of dollars are behind those ads. Now I'm curious how long it will be before we get ads quoting this most recent stuff.

In watching the videos/reading the transcript, his statements are even more disgusting than the quotes I've seen on FB today.

I'm not undecided, and I didn't, actually, know that he really believed that almost half the country, simply by dint of voting for Obama, were parasitic leeches. I knew his political/economic views were wildly opposed to Obama's, and destructive and scary from where I stand, but that's politics and policies. I didn't actually think he was so contemptuous of half of the people he wants to govern.
