I tried to make sangria like Kat but had no will to wait a week before adding the wine so wine went in a few days early. Just tried it and realized it tastes way too bitter, too much grapefruit (hey, used what I had). So glad I tried it early. So I fished out the offending grapefruit and subbed in some pears and apples. So if I let that sit another week I figure it'll balance out the flavors, right? And if not I just add juice, right? My first sangria so I wasn't expecting perfection but would prefer to avoid out and out failure.
It makes sense that grapefruit would make sangria bitter. Add some sugar and let it sit.
Just had apricot hefeweizen ice cream. So nom!
Thanks for the sangria advice, Kat. Now you should come over so we can drink it!
DH brought home Chinese food tonight to celebrate new job. I surprised him with a bottle of Bacon Maple Donut beer.
It was, Steph, refreshing and sweet with just a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste.
I had...um....a chocolate peanut butter zone bar, and a blueberry lara bar for dinner?
Anything else would require leaving the house. Which would require getting dressed.
OK, I need someone to talk me down from bias. I'm having an argument about the photos of the US Ambassador Chris Stevens being "dragged through the streets by a mob."
Would an angry mob take a man to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation?
I mean, it is possible that an angry mob dragged him and then got bored and someone else picked him up and took him to a hospital and the emergency room people lied about treating a dead man for smoke inhalation and then shipped the body home to the US where there's a massive cover up because...I don't know why.
But for those who have seen the photo, it's kind of like a Rorschach test. I see a man being carried. Others see a man being dragged.
As I was cleaning up after dinner, my foot found a small shard of glass and I not only cut that foot but also the other one. I guess before my brain registered GLASS, I brushed the one foot against the other to try to wipe it off. So then both feet were bleeding and ouchie. And, none of us as broken any glass in a long time, so no clue where the shard came from.
