Seconding (whatever number we're up to) the no more broken bones sentiment.
Jobma to K.
My excellent dentist has apparently had an attitude adjustment. He does really good work, and has expected his patients to go for the platinum service. Meeting me and my financial limitations, plus the lack of vanity and insistence on function over appearance--well, we were not a good match, and I was convinced I'd need to find a less-perfection driven dentist.
He must have read an article or two about the present economy, or my pleasant but repeated insistence on the most practical and cost-effective treatment must have finally percolated through. Because he actually gave me factual information and options, and didn't throw attitude when I chose to have a molar and wisdom tooth pulled, with no plans for an implant or bridge. He agreed to a local rather than sedation, and did an excellent job of getting the teeth out and discussing aftercare.
An afternoon and evening's misery that the Vicodin either didn't cut, or if it did, without it would have been so much worse as the anesthetic wore off, and I'm left with minimal soreness at the injection and extraction sites, and no other lasting trauma. It's nice to finally be on the same page.
Skipping (probably for the last time during the Jewish year, though sadly probably far from the last time during the general year) because I'll probably have very little computer time in the next few days, what with shabbat followed by Rosh Hashana, and according to the Buffista Calendar, these days will be full of events:
Tomorrow, Saturday the 15th, will be Nora Deirdre's birthday.
Two days later, Monday the 17th, will be a double Buffista event: both Lee's birthday as well as the 10th anniversary to the foundation of this very lovely Phoenix Board (*ten* years! Ten *years*! Can you believe this?).
The following day, Tuesday the 18th, will be erikaj's birthday.
The following day, Wednesday the 19th, will be lori's birthday as well as PMM and her DH's anniversary.
I hope that by Thursday, the 20th, I'll have internet access again, but just in case, I'll post already that it'll be Sue's birthday.
Lots of early wishes to all!
And of course, to those who observe it, have a good new Jewish year and a lovely Rosh Hashana!
OK, glad we are back, but why oh why is my work computer treating message center as a download? All the other threads are php as well - why is message center so "special".
I need a new dentist. I'd love recs from LA area folks if you're willing to share. Email?
Pix, My dentist is Greg Brooks. His office is in Burbank right off the 5. His wife is a teacher, so the folks in the office get how to schedule for schools stuff. But he only takes PPO insurance.
Oh yeah -- one for Good Things:

This Is the World's Tallest Mohawk
It took Japanese fashion designer Kazuhiro Watanabe 15 years to make his dream a reality. After great effort, he was able to grow a mohawk that is 3 feet, 8.6 inches tall. According to Guinness World Records, it's the tallest in the world.
He says to make it stand upright it takes stylists two hours, one can of gel and three cans of hairspray. He says he wanted to grow the mohawk to rebel against the conformity of Japanese society.
Handpainted Star Wars R2D2 Bra
She has a large selection of geeky hand-painted bras. For example, the Handpainted Star Trek Starfleet Uniform Bra I also love the calculator display that says "BOOBIES"...
