So you think that martial artists have to practice a style developed by someone else?
If not, why do I have like 15 books of Shotokan kata, and why did we spend hours trying to figure out Gichin Funakoshi's original intentions and mocking people who make up their own styles?
Bruce Lee did!
With no fixed position! The Buffy study trolls are merely emulating him.
Why are the people who are clearly back-in-parking-challenged the ones who back into a spot?
Because they’re also back-out parking challenged?
Today I am a man!
That was awesome. Although super annoying to realize that little bit of grudging respect wouldn’t have been there had he realized you were a woman. I need to find a way to deal with these guys the way I deal with sexist hardware store employees. (I ask for a cheeseborough and when they don’t know what it is I explain that it is a clamp for holding two pieces of Schedule 40 pipe together. If the guy is a total asshole I get into fixed vs swivel.)
Today I am an asshole. At least according to the oh-so charming man who all but yanked me into the seat next to him when I really just wanted to go to the back of the bus like I usually do. An hour next to Mr. Hateful was the icing on top after a day of cranky and territorial people and a four-day headache. I think I need to go immerse myself in good stuff for awhile.
the comment thread is a truly delicious feast of witless pomposity and "Why does the entire universe not bow down before the magnificent edifice that is my colossal cock?" pity partying.
Bwah! I adore you.
Thanks Matt. Now I want an absinthe spoon, but will make due with the spoons I have.
Oh yay, more doctor bashing, how I haven't missed you from this forum.
It's my experience. And not just from one doctor. I have had good experiences with doctors too. I've never said "all doctors suck".
But whatever. I'll add "frustration with how I've been treated by most doctors I've seen" to the growing list of Shit I Can't Talk About Here. I don't want to make anyone feel bad.
I don't want to make anyone feel bad.
Because that must be avoided, no matter what. Description of authentic personal experience aside.
If doctors are spending an average of seven minutes with each patient, are there so few patients like me getting decent amounts of time? Is that study general practitioners only, or does it include any sorts of specialists?
My doctor (general practitioner) spends a decent amount of time with me, although as I type this, I'm not actually sure it's more than 7 minutes. I guess it's more that he *does* listen to me and generally provides good care to me. Maybe that makes it *feel* like a longer amount of time.
I think the "seven minutes average per patient" is for doctors working in HMOs. Maybe only general practitioners, but I'd say, again based on my experience, not. But it's an average. It's not like there's a clock that starts when they walk in the room.
It's not like there's a clock that starts when they walk in the room.
I kind of want to check, now, though. Start the stopwatch on my phone or something.

I'm not trying to be contrary or kerfuffle for the hell of it; I'm serious about wanting to time Awesome Doc, because I'm just curious.
