What a fortuitously timed email! WHY YES.
Indeed! I emailed him (and attached M's photo of the ceiling, or more accurately, the giant hole where the ceiling used to be) and am waiting to hear back. We're also waiting for the insurance adjuster to come today.
Also, re: your other questions upthread, we may be able to exchange the washer/dryer -- couldn't hurt to ask. M has already spent several hours mowing the lawn, so I doubt exchanging the lawnmower will work, but maybe we can sell it on CL and recoup at least part of the cost. (Holy biscuits, lawnmowers are expensive!) Or perhaps we'll keep the push mower and I will do all the mowing. Could happen, right? And I'm hoping we can get the ceiling fixed in the next week or two and still move over the weekend of the 22nd, after M gets back from Germany. We've gotta be out of our current place by the end of the month, so... let's hope that's enough time!
Other than the ceiling disaster, it was actually a really nice weekend. I got together with a few other new-parent friends on Saturday, met a friend who just moved to town on Sunday, and then Sunday evening my choir sang at Shakespeare in the Park, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Also, Rose was super charming yesterday, giggling and babbling for hours on end, and we had our first tears-free daycare dropoff this morning. So, I need to remember, life is still pretty good.
Okay, this is random, but bear with me: I'm looking at the full cast and crew page of 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark' and it doesn't list people (like Colin) who were only in one episode. I get how that's a lot of names, but how can I find that information, then? (Interestingly, I just learnt that Jenny (Seguin) and Susan (Glover) were in it--I didn't know that--Jenny was a brilliant improviser--one of the best women we had in Spot, and Susan was an improviser of the old guard, and pretty fucking talented her damn self)
ita, the episodes cast link, in the left sidebar, ought to do you.
So, our realtor just called, and it sounds like the seller is going to pay to fix the ceiling! I was actually not expecting that, and am pretty thrilled. It will still be a pain in the ass, but man, if we don't have to pay for it ourselves: YAY!
it sounds like the seller is going to pay to fix the ceiling!
YAY!

"You could not be more full of shit here if someone reversed the polarity on your enema bag."
Heh.
Kate, I hope that ceiling ends up landing squarely on the seller/insurance, etc for ALL repair costs. I am so sorry that it happened.
Yep, 15 hours to commute to work for three days. Part of it was 3 hours just getting to work Tuesday morning. A highway patrol officer was shot (on another freeway) at 8:20 AM and all of the drivers on that (extremely busy) freeway were re-directed to my (already usually overloaded)freeways. So that was a one-off. And I made the mistake twice of leaving the office at 5:30 which puts me squarely into the evening commutes of three different over-burdened freeways and their commuters. So leaving at 5:30 gets me home around 7:45-8PM. Leaving at 6:30 gets me home around 8:15. And leaving at 4:30 gets me home around 7:30. So, as you can see, any and all evening plans I have that are in SF or Oakland or Berkeley, are completely screwed.
Anyway, had my 1:1 with my boss and we had so much other stuff to talk about that we didn't get around to the commuting one. Today I was up working at 7:30, hit the shower at 8:30, was out the door at 9:10, got to the office at 10:15. Totally do-able on mornings that I don't have a meeting before 10 that I need to be in the office for. I'll leave around 7 tonight and hope that gets me home by 8:15. Outside of some meetings that I do need to be onsite for, I do have a lot of flexibility in my hours - and ideally I will have at least one permanent day a week (Fridays) where I'll always telecommute. There are a few others here, in other departments who have set telecommuting days and very weird hours the other days, and it seems to work for them.
No public transport exists for my commute short of walking approximately 4 miles and taking 3 separate buses (that are not linked to each other). I would LOVE to take a train or BART or something.
Yay for the fixed ceiling payment!!!
Wow, javachik, I'm shocked that going in later is better.
Hey, did I mention that the Good Stuff has 500 followers? Because it does, as of this weekend. Have 500 followers.
