Utterly delighted is how I've always understood it. I'm going to hazard it's something to do with humors and having a sanguine temperament.
The middle pedal sustains the notes that are being played when you depress it, but not those you play once it's been pressed. Me, I got home from Chicago at 10:30, and instead of being sensible and going right to sleep, I sat up catching up on LJ/DW and posting a story and then I slept poorly and I'm going to be late to work. Ah, well.
In the movie "far and away" , in the boxing scenes, they drew a chalk line on the floor and a little boy screamed "toe the line" and the boxers were not supposed to step over it toward each other. The kid was played by the kid who played Crutchy in Newsies. Not sure how accurate it was.
It's a movie built on the idea of romantic chemistry between Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, so I'd take anything it proposes with a grain of salt.
I just read something that included a person wanting to "ring his neck". I don't think he was talking about ring around the collar. Wring people, wring.
