GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

This weekend involves a chiro appointment, family haircuts, yard work and rebuilding the HTPC (the hard drive blew up) so maybe we can actually cut (or at least trim) the cord soon.

Go to Google! Their Doodle is for Star Trek! It has animation and sound and a plot!

That is awesome.

So apparently Brendon Ayanbadejo of the Baltimore Ravens spoke out in favor of a gay marriage intiative in Maryland.

Maryland state delegate Emmett C. Burns Jr. then wrote the owner of the Ravens to say he shouldn't be letting his employees speak out with such controversial views.

Chris Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings responded by laying the smack down. (Warning: Lots of vulgar langauge) [link]

Choice quote: "I can't even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for "beautiful oppressionism")."

As a Bears fan I am required to hate the Vikings, but I can't help but think Kluwe is awesome. (He also did a Q&A on Deadspin recently that was hilarious with bits of geekiness and plenty of vulgarity thrown in.)

Ayanbadejo also responded: [link]

I have to admit, I don't give a shit about football, but both Ayanbadejo and Kluwe knock me over daid with their smackdowns. There's hope. And damn, way to make me feel chagrined to think of football players as inarticulate jocks.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Kudos to both of them! Maybe I'll watch a little more football this fall.

Also encouraging that the team and the player's association are supporting Ayanbadejo's right to speak, even if they aren't saying the agree or disagree with him.

Burns, meanwhile, continues to be an idiot (from Sarameg's link): “Football is the most masculine sport there is out there, and same-sex marriage goes against that as far as I'm concerned,” he said. “I think it's best that a football player leaves that alone.”

Right. Because it's impossible to be gay and be masculine. And masculinity is somehow superior.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I made a quesadilla without the tortilla. I melted cheddar and Gouda cheese over cut-up Southwestern-spiced chicken (from Butterball! you didn't think I cooked it and cut it up myself, did you?) and put it in a bowl, and it is yummy. I am the anti-gourmand.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister just sent me an email telling me to buy a tablet for one of my cousins.

That's it--buy a tablet.

How can she possibly think I'm willing to take that decision upon myself?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I really want you to buy a small chalkboard and send it to her.

Seriously. They deserve the most literal interpretation of that.

Especially since I played with said cousin's iPad last time I was home--it's the only iPad I've ever used.

It has just dawned upon me that I don't think I've ever met (or seen in real life) a white albino. All the albinos I've seen in real life/met have been black. Which is weird, statisically, if the incidence of albinism is the same across races. And I've absolutely never even heard of an Asian albino. Given the numbers, and the web, you'd think...

That thought brought to you by this Russian model: [link] There are some shots where they amped it up with makeup and/or editing in post: [link] but that would be a damned hard look to achieve with normal colouration.
