I watched the whole RNC. My take-away is: (1) Clint is an adorable old fart, who made some good points that got overshadowed by the silliness of pretending to talk to Invisible Obama. (2) All of Paul Ryan's pants are on fire. (3) The only thing Romney truly believes in and will stand up for is the right of rich people -specifically, him- to acquire more money. All else is negotiable. (4) I suspect there's some Republican party Illuminati setting this whole thing up for reasons of their own. I think they have plans in place regardless of which one wins. Romney will be a perfect placeholder for them, and Obama can be cockblocked for another four years as easily as he was the last four. (5) Lots of people are totally, uncritically, unreasonably behind Romney/Ryan, and this is disturbing. Even if one doesn't want Obama to win, and there are legitimate gripes that people have with him, even so, Romney/Ryan is just bad, because they are manipulative liars. (6) We're boned.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Also, seeing Rachel Maddow completely speechless after Clint's speech was totally worth sitting through it. Finally she said, "That's the weirdest thing I've ever seen at a political convention in my entire life, and it will be the weirdest thing if I live to be 100." All the other msnbc guys sitting there with her, no one else could come up with a thing to say either. One guy tried, "Well, it started out okay..." and trailed off. Priceless.
Maybe I shouldn't talk politics. I'll delete it if asked.
We are still here. I have now been up for 24 hours in which I have eaten one meal. Grace is getting two types of antibios at different intervals and we will have to wait for a bed upstairs indefinitely. I was told if I took her AMA, insurance would not cover the visit. True or bullying?
Zen, politics are fine. You have met us, right?
I'm sort of sorry I missed Clint's speech now.

Bullying, even if true.

Oh, don't fret, Amy. It was worthy of being YouTubed and probably already has been. And thanks - I just don't want to piss people off.
Kat, looks like it is complete horseshit: [link] Source seems reputable. Bring that up on your phone to share.
JFC, Kat.
I just read something on a liveblogging of the convention last night and it made me so angry I had to shut my browser. Watching it on TV would have made my head explode.
Someone please tell me politics in this country will eventually get better. Because it seems that my whole adult life politics have just been getting more and more fucked up, and the trend is accelerating.
Oh dear, Kat! I hope you both get the care you need quickly.
Zen, I love the politics and am just stunned at the state of affairs. Watched with my parents the last few days in part because I was interested in the 76 and 91 yo perspective. They are convinced the Mitt/Paul team have blown Florida and won't get the senior vote. They are both super Catholic anti-abortion types too.
My fear is that one of the commentators is correct. The theory is that most people already made up their minds a while ago. The few that didn't will decide based on the hideous ads playing in prime time while they watch their favorite shows. They don't read newspapers or watch news channels. Those people already decided.
