Joyce: You don't think it's too obvious? I think I look like I have a cat on my head. Buffy: But a very well groomed cat. Joyce: Well that's a comfort.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

They're not Muslims, so they don't exist. Good God-fearing conservatives don't do things like this. Ergo, there's no story.

I really think the mainstream media is afraid to embarrass the Republican party. Why has there been so little coverage in the national media of Republican's efforts in many states to disenfranchise voters who tend to lean Democratic? Why has there been so little coverage of how climate change is mostly responsible for all this weird weather we've had over the last few years?

I think these things should always be newsworthy too.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Not like three guys and a slingshot, that's for sure.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That's great, Hec!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Ugh, you guys, I could not be more annoyed for a dumb reason right now. My office and the agency nationwide is doing a canned food drive. We were competing by floor for donuts. Because of the promise of donuts, I and my broken arm brought in 150 lbs of canned goods. This led to an arms race and our office brought in a ludicrous amount of canned goods in total, way more than offices twice our size. So the responsible parties decided, today, everyone gets donuts, they decided to do it today, when almost my entire division, including me, is out of the office. Thanks!!!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Hec,

glad to hear it!

(btw, whenever I type "Hec", I always type "Heck")

All cynicism aside, I think a plot against the president is always newsworthy.

A serious one, yeah. And that does sound serious.

Yeah, I agree. It's kind of shocking that the NYT hasn't reported on it yet. They *murdered* two people who found out about the plot!

Some of you may remember when my close friend and Emmett's godmother, Karen, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today is her five year all clean.

Aw, that's great news!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is some kind of bullshit, right there. (Wait, is this my tax dollars paying for uneaten government bureaucrat donuts??)

Well, that's just unfair! They should do donut day another time just for you.

They *murdered* two people who found out about the plot!

Yeah, these guys were pretty serious, although quite young--the leader is only 21 or so. I can't believe the reporting has been so minimal.

From the Atlantic Wire:

The bizarre story began unfurling on Monday after Pfc. Michael Burnett, dressed in his Army uniform, testified in a southeast Georgia court against his fellow militia members. Prosecutors accused the group F.E.A.R. (Forever Enduring Always Ready) of buying $87,000 worth of assault rifles, bomb materials, and semiautomatic weapons in a plot to bomb a park in nearby Savannah, poison apple orchards in Washington state and blow up a dam with the ultimate goal of overthrowing the government and killing Barack Obama. The group also stands accused of murdering former U.S. soldier Michael Roark and his girlfriend Tiffany York after they learned of the group's plans. In a plea bargain, Burnett plead guilty to manslaughter and illegal gang activity on Monday in connection with Roark and York's murder.
