Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

wow brenda.

I don't envy you in this situation.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

but omg with the drama she creates,

This.

and lies - stupid lies to give her desires authority.

But so much not this, which is what makes it so hard. She is super incredibly diligent and meticulous about her work. And has a very hard time seeing that the K-way of doing things is not necessarily the only way. So she's constantly getting into scraps with people or trying to take over and do things the "right" way.

What especially kills is that she recently broke up a with a toxic boyfriend and has been so much happier recently. Being miserable before was making this all so much worse, but the core issue is, apparently, still there.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

"sand cat" - isn't that a derogatory name for a leopard?

Art Crawl!!!

Uh, no.

These are much, much, much smaller than leopards. And are absurdly cute.

Almost like a Japanese cartoon.

We'll have a good time, I'll try to steer the convo away from work, and at some point as things develop see if there's any way I can prevent it from being a total blindside. Best I can do, I think.

Why would that be derogatory? I mean, in a cat context.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Why would that be derogatory?

Was it a joke?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So your cousin is on the court facing the Williams Sisters right now?

Yes. The black one, for the record.

The commentary is pretty nice about them, but cops to not knowing much about her, and they did mention this would be easier if she were taller.

I can't imagine being a doubles player who doesn't have a set in stone partner. I'm not sure who she generally works with, but it's not this woman. Sometimes she just travels--shows up at the tournament, hoping she can get in, and hoping she finds someone she can play with. Yikesy.

Brenda, that's remarkably uncomfortable.

K is a phenomenal worker who is nonetheless somewhat abrasive and simply cannot stop railroading people or pissing them off.

Oh, I remember you having this problem before. How awkward. And how awful for her--at least you could offer to be a reference? Is there any way she can convert to working where somehow more only her output matters? Eesh. I sometimes worry about this for myself (but other times just am annoyed by how stupid some people are..)
