Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, smonster and Nora!

That's amazing, Kat.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Safety and much good luck to you, smonster and Nora!

Kat, I'm in awe.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Mayor Landrieu, during his afternoon press conference today, recommended stay and shelter. Nora, as far as I saw the projected path hasn't changed, nor has time of landfall. Did I miss something, or is it just people's nervousness growing as it gets closer?

Ah, Jindal called for voluntary evac of low lying areas, Orleans Parish being among them, and then there were some Facebook reports of a weather dude (Bob Breck, I think?) who had been pooh-poohing the whole system, doubling back on that and freaking that people should evacuate tomorrow morning.

However, looks like Isaac is continuing to shift westward and strength has downgraded to Cat 1, for now. It's still a TS right now, though.

Yay! Thanks, Jesse. My day needs some dog-shaming.

There's been a run of bad luck around here. My nicest coworker has pancreatic cancer, and appears to be not doing well--she is still working, but only part-time, and was unable to stand up for an award in a meeting last week.

My sister's oldest high school friend, who already had, and survived, Hodgkin's Lymphoma in college, has just told us she has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

And my cousin's oldest son, who has had medical problems all his life because he was mis-diagnosed with Lime disease and developed epilepsy as a boy, died of a seizure last week.

Plus both my SIL and one of my climbing pals lost their fathers in the last few months.

I feel like the universe is trying to tell me something, and it's not good.

Oh man, that's a lot, Consuela. I would hope the only thing the universe is saying is that shit happens, and a lot of it is happening to people you know right now.

Dear other Admin,

I will do what my bosses tell me to do, not what you tell me you all discussed to do. Until the day I report to you, you do not get to decide everything.

no love, me

PS - I double check everything you tell me is "a boss's decision".
