I think I have a problem... I took my swim bag with me. And for a moment it looked like I might have a window. And then, as I was about to turn right to go to the pool, FLASH and I almost cried. I really need to find an alternative.

But I have a sidewalk scraper and weed barrier fabric and stakes and more barkeeper's friend. So there's that. And I guess I'll dye my hair tonight.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Lawn is mowed, lunch is eaten, dishrack is full of drying dishes. I may be out of steam. I expect I can finish washing the dishes over the course of the afternoon, but I don't think I can keep up the timed effort anymore. Tired. Fortunately, I can do the same thing again tomorrow and I won't need to do yard work, so maybe the inside of the house will look like I've done something...

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I have no difficulty imagining food tasting that good--it's what moves Pepto sales, after all, and Lactaid, etc.

Oh, I didn't mean food in general. If I developed a shellfish allergy I'd probably take EpiPens with me during Lobsterfest. But avocado is such a mild, non-intense flavor it surprises me anyone would like it enough to go to the effort.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Fuck hurricane fuck fuck.

Yeah, that's where I'm at.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

If it helps, Nora, my parents are not particularly concerned. Watchful, but not freaking.

There's definitely a range of reactions happening which confuses me. We'll see what happens at this point- we've been pretty good at being prepared, so I guess it's just a wait and see situation.

It's still a tropical storm, at least.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Dana, where do your folks live?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah, that happens. It's hard to predict which way a storm will go, so some people prepare for the worst, and other people prepare for what seems most likely, and other people just go into denial. (From my experience in several NOLA hurricanes, my best advice is to make sure you know how you're going to evacuate if you need to, and don't freak out.)
