"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, in my head I was totally doing yard work too, alternating with office work. But this is one of those projects that the deeper I get into it, the more I realize needs to be done. So forget the yard for today. I can hit that next week. Plus, the SO likes doing that kind of work.

I do need to at least change the hummingbird nectar, though, because they're getting a little testy out there.

(eta: My solution for the rice paper candy that doesn't belong on my desk? Eat it.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So many good things make my mouth itch! I think it's weird that I don't really get seasonal allergies, because apparently the itchy mouth is connected to hay fever, etc.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The doctor turned out to be at the mercy of the nurses. When one said no, since none of the others were familiar with me (where was everyone?) no one would give me the meds, and she couldn't find the line in the instructions that said "It has to be this way." And even if they could, then...

Anyway, once the new shift of nurses came on, the same doctor authorised two more doses (which makes 4, which is 1 more than ever) based on the assumption that the first two doses didn't work at all, which was nice, since they didn't really, and it normally takes three anyway.

I'm teetering right on the edge, going to very gently take it easy (despite just having asked my boss a stupid question, but in the direction of stupid that's safest, so whatevs) and not stress out about extra stuff

I do wish the doc had presented the records she said she had of me not tolerating the dose well. They keep saying it's there, and I'd love to place that on a calendar, with context. But when a nurse shows up who's confident, they're calm, cool, collected, and confident for sure.

Why in god's name is everyone answering my work emails more timely than this week?

I did the cleaning yesterday I was going to do yardwork, but that is not really gonna happen. I've got the lights on inside at the moment, it's so dark out there.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I always thought it was odd that I had so much less trouble with seasonal allergies in Louisiana where it's so green and stuff is blooming all the time than I do here. But I am specifically allergic to almonds (eating them and, apparently, breathing the pollen) so moving to a town surrounded by almond orchards was SO SMART.

Anyway, I would worry that an itchy mouth would escalate to swollen airways and nobody wants that.

OK, putting on closed toe shoes and getting out the mower.

Eta: glad you got the proper dosage eventually, ita.

I do worry about that a little, but apparently the itchy mouth can just be that. Meh. I mean, I'll ditch the eggplant, but I'm going to keep eating (cooked) peaches, etc!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Isn't it Cass who will eat avocado despite being allergic to it, and just takes Benadryl with it? (I'm not necessarily advocating that, but I'm just saying.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Huh. I like avocados, but I can't imagine finding the taste good enough to eat it with an antihistamine chaser.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Food allergies are so weird. It's strange how very specific the body can get in what it rejects.

I have cleared my desk. Turns out it is very dusty under there, but dust is irrelevant for the moment. I think next I'll clear off the chair and the oak shelf, which will cover most of the horizontal areas. Then I will be able to put off tackling ALL THE BOXES on the floor no longer.

But first, lunch break and Dr. Who. I am feeling pretty happy about seeing my desk.

Yep!
