If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Wait- people are being shot in NYC AND Chicago??? What the heck?

Not a big incident like NY, just a Thursday night.

hwæt

OK, now they’re saying that the shooter was a disgruntled worker who was fired, and he killed someone who worked at his former job. He then got into a shootout with the police, and then 9 or so bystanders got injured in the crossfire (many were probably shot by the police). No one else is expected to die.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oh Bloomberg. Never miss an opportunity to work in a catchphrase.

("He saw something, he said something," re the construction worker who alerted the police.)

But they were just grazed, so police shooting into a crowd is just fine. Really. Move along, nothing to explain here.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sophia--yes. They say they did it so you can see more top level comments at a time, but now you can see more top level comments and an apparently random amount of first level down comments, so it's pretty much dogs and cats lying down together. I haven't checked to see if it breaks the fix lots had been using, but I'm going to expect so, and they continue to be some of the worst application designers I've ever encountered. Every time I get pissed at anyone at work, I remember Denton's mission, and, yeah. Could be worse.

Related to both shootings, The Onion is bitterly funny. ::sigh::

When I turned on the TV there was something about Nike or someone else continuing to support Lance, and him stopping fighting the accusations--but he's not admitting anything, I'm assuming.

I really don't want to hear Usain is doping, but if he is, I hope everyone else is too, and everyone's just bumped up and everyone down to the guy from New Guinea would have an asterisk by their name. It's the only way I could take the heartbreak, even a little.

I finally worked out how to change my Opera language to UK English, and it's more militant than I am, clearly. The word we're fighting about right now is "movie". But, on average, way fewer red underlines, so net positive, and unlike before, I do feel tempted to just type film.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My ex-boyfriend's boyfriend works in the office next door to the ESB. He's okay, but is "complaining that they can't get lunch because everything is shut down to 23rd st." smh

"complaining that they can't get lunch because everything is shut down to 23rd st." smh

That's how we cope!

Because books.

Jesus.

Ugh.

It's Friday, maybe I'll start drinking now.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, he basically said he was sick of fighting it and was just going to let it go, and that everybody knew who won those 7 tours and those medals anyway.

Man, the weather has broken here, which is great, because I think the weather might affect my headaches before I actually get miserable (I don't mind mopping the sweat--it's when the head hurts or I can't sleep that I'm bothered--or when I need to be naked to cope), but I can't get my apartment to stop being stuffy. I've been keeping my front door at least a bit open, but my apartment's not tidy enough for that...first thing you see is all my pill bottles, great impression to make on people I don't talk to...and it's distracting when I'm working and impossible when I'm on calls, but I want oxygen, dammit!
