Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And, "You aren't grilling the steak right; let me show you," when said to a professional grill cook. Say.

'suela, out of curiosity, does your father have medical power of attorney for your mom or do you or your sister?

It goes to my dad first, then my brother the doctor (if he's available), then my sister and I. So, yeah.

So men who are trying to explain why they explain things are being dismissed as part of the problem? How are they supposed to respond to these kinds of things then? Obediently say "Yes, dear, you are, of course, right"?

I think you may not be getting what "mansplaining" is. It's when a woman describes her own experience or expertise and a man explains it to her, entirely negating, ignoring, and talking over her. It's as if I met an accountant at a party, told him what I did, and had him lecture me for an hour on, say, federal environmental policy.

That's mansplaining. It's particularly offensive when exercised on women talking about sexism. Or, for instance, rape.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Or am I misunderstanding mansplaining?

Hopefully some guy will be able to lay it out for you, Steph.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

No, although it's often more subtle than that.

"Catcalling on the street is not that big a deal - it doesn't happen that often, and anyway you should be flattered, not threatened."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'd go home sick now if I felt safe driving.

There are a set of questions they ask every time I go into the ER. I don't know how many "yes" answers flip the red flag (The last doctor, when I was admitted--she tried to trick me. Some of the standard questions are "does this sound/feel the same on both sides?" She didn't touch me or make the sound on both sides. Which struck me as kind of bitchy, because if I was deaf/numb on one side, she wouldn't necessarily be able to tell.) Anyway, one of them is about being numb, and my fingers are definitely in that midspace between tingly and numb right now. And stuff just hurts.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

That's what I live for.

Balls, I just embarrassed the hell out of the contractor. It's not her fault that My Nemesis refuses to pass me information or documents relevant to my program, and instead gives them to the contractor to do. Pity I can't tell the contractor to pass them over to me, though.

BIC For Her Amber Medium Ballpoint Pen (Box of 12) - Black

Comments, as usual, features some golden ones:

I tried these on a whim, and I have to say I wasn't very impressed. The applicator mechanism is far too fiddly, and the plastic tampon inside far too thin (not to mention uncomfortable and non-absorbant) - I'm sure there must be a knack to using them, but I couldn't find it. They also stained my knickers blue for some reason. I really wanted to like these, but it's back to pads for me.

As well as the other information that accretes, like tags and also vieweds...
