I haven't seen the youngest dojo baby for about 6 months. She is the wee one we used to babysit every Saturday. K-Bug is back to watching her on Mondays and Wednesday, so she brought her by the house. MAN, she has grown. Unsurprisingly she doesn't remember us much, but didn't freak out at the "new people" either. Such a sweet smush.
I'm all about forwarding e-mails when I'm awaiting answers. One of my PMs calls it "nagging with a smile". Not sure why he assumes I'm smiling, but what the heck.
Ugh. Outside vendor that was supposed to represent a huge lifting of burden for me is instead looking like it will argumentatively nickel-and-dime us on everything, become a management/communications nightmare, and most recently cast doubt on its ability to actually do the work we need up to spec.
What I really need is two more of me, then I wouldn't have to worry about herding cats or how to motivate people.
I need four more of me. That way, each of us only has to work one day a week.
My boss used to insist that we call her whenever we sent her an important email to make sure she saw it. She would call us with instructions, and answer emails with a phone call, so there was never a record of anything she said.
Timelies all!
Going to dance practice tonight, for the first time in a month.(Not anything to do with me, there was no practice the last three weeks on account of Pennsic.)
I'd resend my original message with new message saying something like Below is the message I sent on Date at Time.
I am the queen of "as noted below", but I've never actually highlighted! That's great--I don't need new passive aggressive behaviours, but I'm all over that.
One of the guys I was talking to in "officially not my job stuff, but he appreciates my help" said "boss is already mad at me". I was so happy to hear that I plotzed. When he's a good boss, he's good, but when the pressure comes down on him, he explodes in every direction. As a protective type of manager, I react pretty badly to that. Working on sucking shit up.
Shit, I missed my opportunity to have stinky lunch. Everyone else is having stinky lunch. I think it's totally fair to have a no-fish-in-the-microwave rule, when the kitchen is just an alcove off the cube farm. I was just going for garlic fries. But that restaurant is closed. Pfah. I was also planning on taking a nap.
They sent out an email telling to wear business attire, but they only specify what the men should wear (shirt and ties). I was kind of annoyed at the number of suit-equivalents I felt I was supposed to pony up in a year, so I said--fine. Shirt and tie it is. A fair number of the men have only made it as far as "not jeans". The women are worse. I mean, not jeans, but clearly not in any sort of shirt and tie equivalent. I wonder if anyone gets reprimanded for that. Maybe you forgot last week, but this Monday? That's just being sloppy.
And since the guys don't actually need to wear suits, it's actually not that bad (but I really do think that an untucked buttondown on a woman is never going to be equivalent to that unless there's a radical fabric and detailing upgrade--there wasn't). I'm surprised at how many people just couldn't be arsed.
Clearly I'm still in the tie honeymoon period. I've had a few bundled up in a drawer, I just never pulled them out until a couple months ago.
I need to look up new knots. If you just handed me a tie and said "wear it" I'd come up with the four in hand. Which means I completely can't work out the alternatives. Where is the variable? Hmmm....
It looks like the national GOP is withdrawing funding from Todd "Magic Vagina" Akin's campaign. I guess it is possible for the Republicans to do something right. Of course, a stopped clock is right twice a day.
unfortunately, they aren't doing it because they found his comments offensive. They are doing it because they really want to win that election.
It is so wrong that I am already able to check in for my return flight and I haven't even left home in the first place yet.
Yeah, I've done those kinds of tight turnaround flights too many times Brenda. Just heading out for a meeting?
