Played with Kaylee. Sun came out, and I walked on my feet and heard with my ears. I ate the bits, the bits stayed down, and I work. I function like I'm a girl. I hate it because I know it'll go away. The sun goes dark and chaos has come again. Bits. Fluids. What am I?!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I love those pictures. Do you want to use all of them? Because that's fun.

Oh, but what I came here to say is: My poor grandmother fell on her way to the hair salon and bashed her head! I guess she's OK, but ugh. Poor thing.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh no, poor Grandmother!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Spiff! Very thoughtful of you.

Msbelle is the boybandiest.

Unless The Kristen is in the house.

My Saturday was lined up to be complicated and have potential for things to awry. Emmett had committed to playing a double-header with a new team (The Rakers) and months ago his mom had bought tickets to a matinee show (Lorenzo Pisoni's Humor Abuse).

And Emmett was regretting his decision to play after three weeks of vacation and I had to get clearance from the coaches for him to just play the first game, and if the A's or Giants were playing a day game then it was going to be difficult with traffic to get from the East Bay to Downtown SF for the show on time, and there's no intermission so if Emmett didn't get there in time he wouldn't be seated and they'd miss the show.

And then nothing bad happened. Found the baseball field this morning without trouble. Emmett caught six innings. The coaches were fine with him leaving at 1pm no matter what the game was doing. With my clock running down, Emmett executed a suicide squeeze bunt to knock in the go-ahead run. I had food and a smoothie waiting for him in the car. The Giants are out of town, and the A's have an evening game, and traffic is light for August.

So, he ate and changed his clothes in the car, we got to the Geary Theater by 1:30 (for a 2pm show), and his Mom was just arriving from BART. And now Emmett likes this new team and will play with them over a big Labor Day weekend tourney.

Ta da. So I am now bequeathing this sentence to anybody else facing daunting circumstances this week: "And then nothing bad happened."

May it be so.

ION, the best new thing to come out of Project Runway in a while is the phrase: "He's just a one-way monkey." Which should totally replace "He's just a one-trick pony" in the vernacular.

I don't know which way to go: Some are already prepped.

I like the one in Wales, and the adult sisters with the head-hug (you blonde).

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

ita !, you and your sister are stunningly gorgeous. (And super-cute as wee kidlings, but wow. Gorgeous.)

Please oh please.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think the one in Wales and the one where I'm hugging upwards are the two best pictures taken of us, about 20 years apart.

Weirdly, I have no idea who took the second one.

ita !, you and your sister are stunningly gorgeous

Thank you!

I might ask my mother to break the tie, but I bet she'll vote nostalgia.

Well, I'll prep both and see.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My favorites among that group are the 2nd and 5th, FTR.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I like the winky picture, I think. They are all pretty great.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Love the tie you picked for me, ita !

And that I look like either the lovechild of Slash and Mary Poppins, or that I'm in My Chemical Romance.

OMG, I've been meaning to tell you. There's this guy on OKC (username - velurenightmare)who looks like a photomanip cross between Frank and G-way. He's even got green eyes. Here's his list of six things he can't live without (standard part of profile).

  • three-piece suits
  • 19th century literature
  • seafood
  • laughter and forgetting
  • sarcasm
  • high art

And for what's he's doing with his life?

I am writing a novel set in New Orleans during the 1853 yellow fever epidemic.

He does not, however, list MCR as a favorite band. Every time I look at his profile, I clap my hands and giggle.
