Hey, Sophia, if you're still around, what do you call the metal pieces that hold men's suspenders together? Is there a word for them? And in the '20s, what would they likely be made of if you could afford quality?
The thingie on the back of the suspender? I think in the 20's it would actually be made of leather, but I would have to do a little research. Like this: [link]
Every "period" pair of pants I have ever seen is made for Y-back suspenders.
Or do you mean the adjusters?
The adjusters! That's what I couldn't think of. Probably ... brass? And thank you -- I did see Y-back with buttons, so I think he'd wear those.
>Probably ... brass?
I would think. I don't think even a very rich person would have a precious metal because they were more like underwear- not at all meant to be seen. So I am not sure what the "common" metal would be at that time, but whatever that is, I think that would be it!
Also 1920's is a bad era to reseach online because there is a lot of mis information and "halloween" type costume stuff out there.
Because I am not a re-creator, I tend to try to look at original photographs of real people, but I don't have a lot of knowledge on materials used.
Thank you for looking, Sophia! I haven't been finding much either, but I also don't really have to mention the adjusters. I just need to give the impression that this guy, in these clothes, is not the sort who usually joins a carnival.
I am about to email an offer to a potential caregiver/household manager person. I am so fearful that they will not accept that I have taken all day to do this. I need someone to start this coming week.
ok - cross all fingers and toes people.
they will accept, msbelle!
fingers and toes crossed, msbelle!
My kids did their homework on the bus, two days in a row now. Not sure how long this love of school will last, but I'm gonna enjoy it while I can.
