this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Good lord. Today at work so far:

(1) Boss has proven -- for the kajillionth time -- she doesn't know the difference between the server and the Internet. (The server crashed but she yelled at one of us for not working; the reasoning being since clearly we could get to the internet, we could get to the server. The person working on the server explained to her how that's insane [only using nicer words], and she asked, "So we can't get to the server through Internet?" [Not *the* Internet; just Internet.])

(2) Annoying co-worker is wearing a dress that is pretty much the same shade as her skin. And it's knit and unflatteringly tight. And her desk is on the other side of a glass wall from my department. SHE LOOKS NAKED. I want to go buy a Snuggie and give it to her. t edit Ah, it turns out that *everyone* wants to buy her a Snuggie. I only typed what everyone was thinking.

Scrappy, condolences to you and J. His Uncle Joe sounds like a lovely man.

Someone (Suela?) posted a link recently to an awesome multi-fandom vid, and now I can't find where (and am not 100% sure of who), but it was awesome! Made me kind of nostalgic for SGA, of all things. And Firefly, of course.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's the one! ...Except that I haven't been in Boxed Set in a long time, so I don't think that's where I saw it. Huh. But anyway, so cool!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, now sister's friends have opinions. Mmmhmmm.

Heh. If you want a counter to that, when I get home I'll post a link to the SGA vid which is all about the dangerous imperialism of the Atlantis Expedition, and how the Pegasus natives just want the Earthers to go home...

I would be all over that vid! Also, figured out that I got the "Starships" vid from Jessica on FB. Because finding that out was clearly more important than actually, well, working.

Human Pantone portraits.

I wish that portraiture weren’t so damn hard for me.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The way their faces (and the background) are such different colours from the skin pulled tight and reflecting off their shoulder joints weirds me out. But that's not something I'd have noticed without the Pantone match.

I'd love to say portraiture isn't hard for me, but I know I'm at best a talented amateur, at worst a person who takes photographs that sometimes include people. But I really do like that. I miss the no-stress portrait--the one where I grab someone and we go driving around town and just stop places and burn a roll or two of film.

Which indicates a bit how long it's been since I did it.
