Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

what the laws are about what people can say about other people in books like this.

I can't see why there would be laws in place to stop someone telling the story of their life, providing they didn't sign away the right to do so. If you don't want to be in someone's autobiography, don't interact with them.

That having been said--if you feel someone has lied about you in the public eye, there's legal recourse, but I'd be surprised by any default gag on mundane individuals.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Wow, thats kind of fascinating, t!

It really was. Good thing, too, because our train was delayed and he was clearly starving for conversation, or perhaps more accurately, bursting with stuff to say because I really just needed to listen. And advise him on navigating Amtrak, since there's no agent at our station, but I am always happy to do that.

It has happened enough in IL that restitution for the wrongfully convicted is a line on the IL income tax form.

Wow. He did say he'd been offered a $6mil settlement but had countered with 11. How that would be taxed had not occurred to me.

I have not heard of fan!tea. Sound mildly dangerous, in that my-tea-cupboard-is-already-full way.

Many limes -> lime cordial! Zest the limes (thickly with a potato peeler if you can, my limes are always too thin-skinned for that and I have just used the whole rind and that works fine), juice them, add as much sugar as juice by volume and pour that concoction over the zest. Let that rest in the friidge for 24 hours. Strain out the zest/peels. Let the remaining liquid rest in the fridge for another 24 hours. Yum. Bon bon may come along and correct me if I've missed something, I haven't made any in a few months.

I've heard that statements that are publishable in the US might not be in the UK because the burden of proof in libel (or slander or whatever) is different and publishers won't want to take the risk of being sued. I think I learned that from The Good Wife, so, salt well.

Anne, that festival looks incredible.

Aha. It's the second hit for sherlock tea but this is the person I found first on tumblr doing it: [link] Daunt, originally of SPN fandom, has also started doing it--not sure if it's Sherlock, or everyone's favourite new pet, Teen Wolf.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

What are the rules for things like this? Could he sue her and/or the publishing company for defamation or something like that?

I would think he would have to prove that she was lying for that to go anywhere. Based on his statement it doesn't sound like a complete fabrication.

Before rehearsal one day, there was a discussion in which David Prete talked about his portrayal in Eat, Pray, Love and being played by James Franco. He said that Gilbert did contact him and even sent a manuscript but that he didn't ask her to change anything.

Good god. It's Teapot Of Our Own: [link]

Who in hell saw that niche coming?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

No, that is quite true, the UK's laws make it very easy to be sued for libel: [link]

I am so tickled that that exists. Even as I grumble that it could be easier to navigate.

The US women have had a really good track and field Olympics this year.

But, right now, I don't even have words for the Jamaican guys. That's just fucking amazing. All that, and with Asafa injured to boot. The anthem is going off in my head again.

When I was out doing groceries I swung by the intersection with the plane crash to see if I could see anything obvious, but not at the bits I looked at.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Why did NBC spend an hour of Olympics time on WWII?
